Computers help humans with a lot of things, from searching information to math. Now, they may be able to help us in more complex (复杂的) ways. Recent research has showed a new computer program that can recognize (识别) human emotions (情感), simply based on how they type.
Researchers from the Islamic University of Technology in Bangladesh asked a group of people to type two paragraphs from Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice in Wonderland. The participants (参与者) then chose an emotional state they felt while typing. Emotions tested were joy, fear, sadness and shame.
Then the researchers put the text into the computer to study. Surprisingly, the computer was right 70 percent of the time in telling the participants’ emotional states. The most correct emotions it guessed correctly were joy (87 percent) and anger (81 percent). The least correct emotion the computer guessed was sadness (60 percent).
However, the computer program is limited (局限) in what it can do. But scientists believe that it will help humans in the future.
“If we could build any program that is intelligent enough to communicate with humans that involved (含有) emotions…then using machines could be more effective (有效的) and friendly,” the researchers wrote in the study. For example, when looking for a movie online, perhaps a computer program could make suggestions for films that would match your mood.
And as the researchers said, this type of computer program could also help humans in a number of ways. First, with online teaching, emotionally intelligent computers could change its teaching style or content (内容) to help students learn better. Second, with online conversation, doctors could be able to tell the emotion of a patient.

Nowadays more and more children seem to get lost in a “sea of digital technology”. As they use digital technology too much, they are losing their ability to do the simple things. They can’t make toys themselves with hands or help mum cook dinner. And worst of all, they seem to be losing interests in communicating with others.
“I have talked with a number of teachers. They care about increasing numbers of young pupils who can play with computers or smart phones, but few or no skills to play with making things,” said a teacher, Colin Kinney. “Many pupils can’t communicate with other pupils but their parents talk proudly of their ability to use a computer or smart phone.”
Instead of playing with other children, more and more children are choosing to stay indoors and quietly play on a tablet on weekends and after school. How can a child grow up to be a very good artist if he doesn’t learn how to use a paintbrush and develop his painting skills How can a child learn to making friends as he gets older if he doesn’t learn to communicate with others at a young age
Digital technology can be used for good or bad. We can use stone to either break a window or build a house. We shouldn’t blame the children. We should help them make right choices. It is certainly necessary for children to know how to use digital technology in today’s world, but what is more important, we should encourage them to develop social abilities, which will do them good when they grow up.

A.Children make too many friends themselves.
B.Children make too many friends online.
C.Children don’t want to communicate with others.
D.Children don’t like helping Mum cook meals at home.

A.Teachers don’t notice that young pupils have few skills to make things.
B.Many parents are very happy that their kids can use digital technology.
C.Many parents don’t care if young pupils can play computers or tablets.
D.Some parents are worried that their kids use digital technology too much.
33.What do many young children choose to do on weekends and after school
A.To play on a tablet indoors. B.To paint with their paintbrushes.
C.To play with other children. D.To make friends with other children.

A.表扬 B.原谅 C.评价 D.责怪
35.What does the writer mainly want to tell us
A.It’s very important for children to have social skills.
B.It’s very helpful for children to do some housework.
C.It’s necessary for parents to learn to use digital technology.
D.It’s difficult for teachers to make right choices for their pupils.

AI is a double-edged sword. It can help us, but also cause us harm. Who is using AI Is AI replacing humans What should we do to avoid the risks and dangers that AI might bring
Artificial intelligence is set to benefit mankind in many ways. It will make everyday tasks easier and bring efficiency to various industries. It might just prove to be one of man's greatest inventions.
And yet, like any other technology, ▲ . In February 2018, a group of AI experts got together to discuss the possible misuse of AI. What they found was that "Every AI advance by the good guys is an advance for the bad guys, too," according to Quartz.
Their biggest concern was that criminals (罪犯) could use AI for wrongful purposes. One of the areas they looked at was the use of AI to create websites that could be used to steal people's personal information. Another possibility is that AI programs could be taught to hack software and break into computer secure systems.
There are some other concerns as well. It is possible that AI could be used to create fake images and videos. Chinese tech giant Baidu, in fact, has developed a program called Deep Voice that can "clone" anyone's voice by studying a 3.7-second audio sample.
Many leading figures in the tech world have expressed concern about AI. People like Bill Gates and Elon Musk have called for the industry to be more strictly regulated, as there are few laws right now on the use of AI.
However, this is set to change. In March 2018, the European Union plans to set up a group that will discuss the moral and ethical dangers of advanced AI – and hopefully, suggest some regulations that will help us keep it safe for mankind.
36.Which of the following can be put in ▲ in Paragraph 3
A.AI makes our life easier B.AI will also bring risks
C.AI is around us everyday D.AI beats human in many ways
37.Some experts have concerns about AI because ________.
A.it makes people lazier B.it is developing too fast
C.it will replace workers in the future D.some people may use it to do bad things
38.Deep Voice is mentioned to show ________.
A.how AI is developed B.what AI can do in the future
C.why Baidu is a tech giant D.how AI can copy voices
39.We can infer from the passage that _______.
A.there may be new laws to regulate the use of AI.
B.AI will bring more harm than benefit to mankind.
C.many AI programmers will become criminals.
D.there will only be fake news and videos online.
40.This passage is written mainly to ________.
A.tell readers that AI is a new invention B.introduce what AI is really about
C.show that AI also has disadvantages D.suggest some rules for AI

There is no doubt that technology has had a big influence on our lives. People from all around the world can now talk to each other almost at once on mobile phones and the Internet. People can easily solve their problems with the help of computers and the world wide web. With this technology, it seems that the world is more connected now than ever before. Even so, there have been worries about technology making people feel lonely and disconnected from others around them.
So does this mean that technology makes us lonely
In my opinion, it is hard to say Yes or No.
It’s true that humans need communication with each other. If we depend on technology too much to communicate, this can badly impact our mental (心理的) health. For me, technology is a tool. And just like any other kind of tool — like scissors, a pencil or a ruler, for example, it depends on how we use it: in a right way or in a right place. Take social media (社交媒体) as an example. If you only use it to compare yourself with others, you might feel sad and lonely. But if you use it as a tool to connect with friends and family or to start a new community to talk about your hobbies and interests, the loneliness will turn into love and friendship.
When you feel lonely after staring at your computer screen all day, maybe you can use that technology to reach out to a reliable (可靠的) friend and invite him or her out for lunch or a coffee.
41.According to the writer, technology is ________ .
A.a tool B.an influence
C.a pair of scissors D.a way of communication
42.What’s the meaning of the underlined word “impact” in Paragraph 4
A.帮助 B.促进 C.影响 D.进入
43.According to the passage, if people use technology too much, people may ________ .
A.sleep less B.live longer C.feel lonely D.get more jobs
44.When we use technology to________ others, we can find love and friendship.
A.argue with B.compete with C.connect with D.compare with
45.What’s the main idea of the passage
A.Social media is important to us.
B.Technology can be good and bad to us.
C.People need to communicate with each other.
D.Computers and the Internet help us with our work.

D.Some parents are worried that their kids use digital technology too much.

44.When we use technology to________ others, we can find love and friendship.

45.What’s the main idea of the passage
