Chinese traditional painting and dance are two vital parts of the art world. But what about when they meet each other
This year, a dance drama titled Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape
Painting was staged on CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala and went viral.
According to CCTV, this poetic dance program was inspired by the 900-year-old Chinese painting A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains. Created by Song Dynasty painter Wang Ximeng at about 18, the painting is amazing in its sweeping size, rich coloration and the expressive details, reported CCTV. It shows a Chinese blue-green landscape: “mountains and groupings of infinite rise and fall between cloudless sky and rippling water”.
When the dancers moved elegantly, audiences seemed to be looking at the moving
mountains and rivers. “It brings me a pure experience of beauty. It is not only a drama but also an ‘exhibition’. Vast mountains and rivers are coming to life!” Internet user Mo Weisha wrote in a review. “More than a thousand years later, green mountains and rivers still wow people as they did long ago.”
Some people even decided to watch the dance again when it was staged in the theaters
later. In fact, in recent years, more and more modern shows highlight Chinese traditional culture and have received warm welcome. As for why, it is due to people’s great love for traditional culture.
“The younger generations have grown up with a more open mindset. They embrace
Chinese culture and are proud of it.” Yao Wei, director of Henan TV Station’s Innovation Center, told China Daily.
What is the function of paragraph 1 in the passage
A. To present a common phenomenon. B. To compare painting with dance.
C. To describe the art world. D. To introduce the topic.
What can we learn about the painting A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains from the text
It was painted in several bright colors.

In its early history, Chicago had floods frequently, especially in the spring, making the streets so muddy that people, horses, and carts got stuck. An old joke that was popular at the time went something like this: A man is stuck up to his waist in a muddy Chicago street. Asked if he needs help, he replies, "No, thanks. I've got a good horse under me."
The city planner decided to build an underground drainage (排水) system, but there simply
wasn't enough difference between the height of the ground level and the water level. The only two options were to lower the Chicago River or raise the city.
An engineer named Ellis Chesbrough convinced the city that it had no choice but to build
the pipes above ground and then cover them with dirt. This raised the level of the city's streets by as much as 12 feet.
This of course created a new problem: dirt practically buried the first floors of every
building in Chicago. Building owners were faced with a choice: either change the first floors of their buildings into basements, and the second stories into main floors, or hoist the entire buildings to meet the new street level. Small wood-frame buildings could be lifted fairly easily. But what about large, heavy structures like Tremont Hotel, which was a six-story brick building
That's where George Pullman came in. He had developed some house-moving skills
successfully. To lift a big structure like the Tremont Hotel, Pullman would place thousands of jackscrews (螺旋千斤顶) beneath the building's foundation. One man was assigned to operate each section of roughly 10 jackscrews. At Pullman's signal, each man turned his jackscrew the same amount at the same time, thereby raising the building slowly and evenly. Astonishingly, the Tremont Hotel stayed open during the entire operation, and many of its guests didn't even notice anything was happening.
Some people like to say that every problem has a solution. But in Chicago's early history, every engineering solution seemed to create a new problem. Now that Chicago's waste water was draining efficiently into the Chicago River, the city's next step was to clean the polluted
river.
28.The author mentions the joke to show ______ .
horses were fairly useful in Chicago
the Chicago people were particularly humorous
Chicago was very dangerous in the spring
Chicago's streets were extremely muddy
29.The city planners were convinced by Ellis Chesbrough to ______ .
lower the level of streets with pipes
lower the Chicago River by drains
build pipes above the ground to fight against heavy floods
get rid of the street dirt through pipes
30.The underlined word “hoist”in paragraph 4 means ________
A. change B. Repair
C. decorate D. lift
31.The passage is mainly about the early Chicago's ______ .
popular life styles and their influences
environmental disasters and their causes
engineering problems and their solutions
successful businessmen and their achievements
D
Metin Sitti at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart, Germany, and his colleagues have developed tiny robots called “microrollers” that can carry cancer drugs and selectively target human breast cancer cells. The team drew inspiration for the design of the robots from white blood cells in the human body, which can move along the walls of blood vessels (血管) against the direction of blood flow.
The microrollers are round and made from glass microparticles. One half of the robot was coated with a thin magnetic nanofilm (磁性纳米膜) made from nickel and gold. The other half was coated with the cancer drug doxorubicin as well as molecules that recognize cancer cells.
The team tested the robots using mouse blood and artificial channels lined with human endothelial cells—the kind of cells that line the inner walls of our blood vessels. The robots were exposed to a mixture of cancerous and healthy tissue. The microrollers selectively attached to the cancer cells and were activated using UV light to release the doxorubicin.
By applying magnetic fields, the team was able to control the movement of the
microrollers, both with and against the flow of blood. The microrollers can reach a speed of up to 600 micrometers per second. “If you come to a spot where you need to take the right
高二年级英语试卷 第 3 页 共 6 页
path and if you miss it, then you could go back and go to the right one,” says Setti.
In future, the researchers want to use other methods to start the drug release, such as heat or near-infrared light. They also plan to try making microrollers out of materials that would break down in the body over a few weeks or months.
The team hopes to test the microrollers in animals soon. “The rollers need to carry
enough cancer drugs, which is why we need to have them in large numbers,” says Setti. “But since we can locally take drugs to the right target, we don’t need huge dosages (剂量).”
What can the microrollers be used for
A. Repairing blood cells. B. Delivering drugs.
C. Improving blood flow. D. Performing operations.
What does Paragraph 2 mainly tell us about the microrollers
A. Their shape. B. Their advantage.
C. Their design. D. Their application.
What can we learn about the robots from Paragraph 4
A. Their direction can be adjusted. B. They might miss the target cells.
C. They might get stuck in the blood. D. Their speed can change automatically.
What will the scientists probably do next
Put the microrollers to clinical use.
Sell the microrollers in large quantities.
Tear the microrollers down in the body.
Experiment with the microrollers further.

Jenny lived in a small village. When she was a child, what she liked to do most was to watch the blue sky and enjoy birds flying freely in the sky. She always imagined that some day she could also fly in the sky like a bird.
When Jane was in the fourth grade, one day, her teacher asked them to write a report on
what they wanted to be when they grew up. She poured her heart into her report and wrote that she dreamed to become an airline pilot in the future. She thought that she did a great job because she expressed her real idea successfully. However, to her surprise, her paper came back with an “F” on it. The teacher told her it was nothing but a “fairy tale”, which could never become true. Jenny felt completely disappointed and sad. In her heart, she didn't want to accept that a girl couldn't become a pilot. But as the years went by, Jenny was beaten down by the discouragement again and again from people around her. “Girls can't become airline pilots; never have, never will. You're crazy.” Finally, Jenny gave up her dream.
However, when Jenny studied in her senior year of high school, she met an English
teacher called Marsha, who was a strict teacher with high standards but very kind. She often inspired her students to do something meaningful in the future. One day, Mrs. Marsha asked all the students to think about the question: “What will you do in the future ” At that time,

第二节:读后续写(满分25分)
The next day, Marsha came into the classroom with a bright smile on her face. She praised all the students for what they had finished including Jenny. Mrs. Marsha told Jenny that her dream was wonderful and she was sure that Jenny would have the abilities and talents to make it come true if she tried her best. Besides, she also encouraged Jenny to keep on trying without worrying about others' opinions. Hearing the words, Jenny felt a relief from her heart and made up her mind to study hard to realize her dream.
Para 2:
The hurt and fear of years of discouragement disappeared. Encouraged and full of passion, Jenny began to pursue her dream with all her effort. In the following ten years, she studied hard and never gave up even when she was faced with all kinds of difficulties. Eventually, Jenny became a pilot of a famous airline company, realizing her dream of flying in the sky like a bird. All of us may meet different difficulties on our way to success, but if we keep on trying without giving up, we will make it come true.

(Text 10)
W: Good evening everyone, my name’s Louise Bright. I’ve worked as a sportswear designer for a big store for four years now, but I haven’t always worked in this field. When I left school I worked as secretary for a couple of years, and then became a bank clerk before getting a job in a travel agency. But I always dreamt about working in clothes designing.
So, when I was 25, I went to college — the London School of Fashion, and did a four-year course there. You don’t learn how to actually design and make clothes until the second year — the first year is spent looking back at the designs of the past. In the third year you work in a big store, looking at clothes made by all the famous names.
I enjoyed the last year of the course most, because each student designs seven sets of clothes for the final show. All the students at the school come to the final show, and you can invite other friends as well. But for me, the best thing was that my mum and dad could come and see what I’d done. Of course, people who are really well-known in the field often come too.
I was very lucky to get work as a clothes designer as soon as I’d finished college. I really love my work., but I intend to have my own business in the end — I’d like to design children’s sports clothes, and sell them on the Internet. I don’t expect to be fantastically successful but if I could earn enough to live on, that would be great.
