For most people, having property stolen feels like a disaster. Robbie Pruitt admits when his mountain bike was stolen last September, he got mad. But soon enough, his emotions took a turn. After letting go of his anger, he found himself on a road to compassion instead.
As a biker, Pruitt’s first priority was to buy one again, but when he went bike shopping,
he found the pickings slim. The scarcity in stock got him thinking: What if the person
who’d taken his had done so because he truly needed transportation to get to work
With that thought in mind, Pruitt came up with a plan and posted it to a local Facebook group. Pruitt put out a call for bikes people don’t use, which he would repair

again for free and then donate to folks who could truly use them but didn’t have the budget to buy a bike outright.
The day the post went live, Pruitt was excited about a list of 30 used bicycles. The initial
influx(涌入) was followed by more than 500 posts from people who either had bikes to donate or that needed fixing soon after. By the end of the month, Pruitt had repaired more than 140 bikes for donation.
In addition to practical skills, Pruitt’s lessons teach teamwork, encourage self-esteem,
and foster feelings of community. “Pruitt is certainly providing a service, but it’s not the bikes. It’s the relationships in the community. It’s the impact he made on people. All the neighborhood kids are spending a lot more time doing something that’s hands-on,” Pruitt’s next-door neighbor Danny told The Washington Post.

In less than two months, a newly opened minimarket in a remote village in Xigaze City, southwest China's Tibet, has attracted a large number of customers. The secret behind its success is the idea “rubbish for goods”. Villagers can redeem (兑换) goods with used cartons (硬纸盒) and drink bottles.
Early in the morning, Drukhyun, the first secretary of Chumik Village, came to check the
stock (库存). “More and more people are coming to redeem goods and we need to timely ensure plentiful stocks,” Drukhyun said. Yet the move was not quite well received in the beginning, until they put their eyes on the pupils. The children used recyclables in exchange for snacks and soon the news spread. Now over 100 villagers have redeemed goods with a value of over 5, 100 yuan.
The market has also provided jobs for four local residents that once lived under the
poverty line, each earning a monthly salary of 3, 000 yuan. Tenzin Drolma is responsible for counting and weighing the goods. “Thanks to the market, I can get such a meaningful job. Local residents are highly motivated and I'm pretty busy every day.”
Since a rule of sorting the waste into categories (种类) in Lhasa was carried out in
November 2020, several green markets have opened one after another. In another similar supermarket in Lhasa, the shelves are filled with edible oil, washing liquid, toothpaste and other daily products. All the products are only available by redeeming points. One kilogram of plastic waste can be redeemed for 13 points while one kilogram of cartons is worth of 5 points.
Technology has also made the low-carbon lifestyle smarter and cleaner. In a
community in Lhasa's Chengguan District, the intelligent recycling bins can calculate the weight and upload (上传) the redeemed points to cards of local residents. “When the trash bins are full, it will automatically remind the cleaning staff to empty them,” said Pendran, director of the district's waste sorting office.
8.What do we know about the minimarket in Tibet
A.It was an immediate success when first founded.
B.It began to spread with the help the local kids.
C.It was not accepted for environmental damage.
D.It allowed villagers to buy daily goods with cash.
9.How does the minimarket affect the local area
A.It starts the local rule of waste sorting.
B.It helps the locals get rid of poverty.

D.It provides employment opportunities.
10.What is Tenzin Drolma's attitude towards the minimarket

Recently, I had lunch with a young Chinese student who studies at a college in New York. He is very bright and ambitious and I enjoyed our conversation. Still I felt upset and useless afterwards because I was not able to provide him with any good news. Graduating at the
end of this year, he asked me how he could find a job in this country and fulfill his career
dreams.
In recent years, students who found a job here after graduation have had to go through a cruel lottery system to obtain their HIB working visa. And the success rates have been declining year after year because of the ever growing number of applicants. Last year, there were 233,000 applicants, and only 30 percent of them were lucky, less than half of the rate in 2013.
And it can only become worse. US President Donald Trump’s immigration (移民)
policies in this country are tightening up and this trend will continue for at least the next
few years. In this case, foreign students studying social sciences, a field in which starting salaries are rarely above the required amount, can kiss their visa hopes goodbye.
Compared to the older generation of Chinese students, today’s young people no longer
consider the US as the only option. Many start to think China offers better opportunities in the longer term.
This is not to say that Chinese students in the US are not interested in job opportunities
here any more. A few years of work experience in the US can give them leverage when they finally land back in their home country. But if the job opportunities are largely reduced by
the tightening of immigration policy, I expect there will be a decline. And if that happens, it is the American economy that will suffer from the loss of those educated, hard-working and talented immigrants.
12.The author felt upset because ________ .
A.he was not interested in the talk B.he didn’t fulfill his career dreams
C.he couldn’t provide helpful advice D.he thought the student was useless
13.Which of the following statement is true according to the passage
A.The lottery system for HIB working visa is too tough.
B.Chinese students have no choice but to return to China.
C.President Obama is tightening up the immigration policies.
D.Fewer and fewer students are applying for the working visa.
14.What does the word “leverage” in Paragraph 5 probably mean
A.Advantage. B.Language. C.Ability. D.Education.
15.What is the author’s attitude to the tightening of immigration policy
A.Doubtful. B.Supportive. C.Indifferent. D.Worried.

It is known to all that +句子是固定句型,表示“众所周知”,it是形式主语,真正的主语是后面的that从句,that从句是主语从句,注意it位于句首,首字母大写,故填It。
42.
分析句子结结构可知,“It can be too dangerous to reach some of the most fragile parts of the ancient wall especially the Jiankou wall”是主句,“which winds through peaks and cliffs, which winds through peaks and cliffs,________(make)the preservation of it no easy task.”是定语从句,先行词是the Jiankou wall,而“________(make)the preservation of it no easy task.”
approach to sth.
分析句子结构可知,“________(base) on the highly accurate images taken by the drones”是做状语,be based on是固定搭配,表示“根据;以......
51.1. which → what

故将which改为what。
表示原因时,because引导句子,句中the weightlessness是词语应该用because of。故在because 后加of。
故去掉the。
too high 和 too low不是并列关系,是选择关系,either...or...(或者…… 故将and改为or。
故将him改为them。

1.As is known to all, due to the outbreak of the epidemic, people focus close attention to the serious situation as well as the effective prevention, which reflects the selfless and fearless spirit of our nation.
Above all, what is highly advocated is that individuals are supposed to wear the mask staying in public places, so as to better guarantee our safety. In addition, it is the devotion of medical personnel and participation of volunteers that help us overcome the difficulties and deserve admiration. Most importantly, only by observing the strict management of government can we get through this tough period eventually.
All in all, keep on struggling against the epidemic bravely. I’m firmly convinced that we are bound to achieve the victory with our joint efforts.
