Teaching aims and learning objectives:
By the end of this class, students are expected to be able to
1. understand the information about a music show
2. complete the diary entry with the information on page 73.
3. invite others to a concert.
Predicted areas of difficulty and focus:
The characteristics of the five kinds of music.
Teaching contents:
Vocabulary: concert, country music, country, cowboy, guitar, lasting, value, African, American, African American, local colour, tonight
Phrases: classical music, have a lasting value, make up the music, in the traditional style, have strong local colours, attend all the concerts
Sentences:
Come and enjoy a day of music!
It is a great day because I have learnt about different kinds of music.

Teaching procedures:
Task 1 Answer the question.
What art forms do you know
Task 2 Read and answer
Ask students to look at the poster in Part A1. Answer:
1. How many kinds of concerts are there
2. What are they
Task 3 Listen and find out the correct date and times
1. Listen and complete the poster with the correct date and times.
2. Check the answers together.
Task 4 Listen and match
1. Ask students to look through the contents in Part A2.
2. Listen, match and check.
Present some important phrases and language points.
(1) local colour
(2) African American
(3) make up
(4) be of great value =be valuable 很有价值
Task 5 Go over some useful expressions
1. Ask students to complete the first section on the exercise paper.
2. Check the answers together.
Task 6 Enjoy and guess
Ask students to enjoy some videos and guess what kinds of music they are.
Tell them to give the reasons.
Task 7 Complete Daniel’s diary
1. Ask students to look through Part A3 on page 74 and complete the diary.
2. Read together to check the answers.
Task 8 Listen and complete
1. Ask students to listen to the recording and complete the passage on the paper.
2. Check the answers together.
Task 9 Speak up
Sandy is inviting her friend Janice to a concert.
Ask students to listen to the conversation and answer the questions.
