本课是第二个小单元“评价信息技术”的第一课,旨在让学生认识到科技对于人际关系的双重影响,并引导学生养成关注科技与社会的关系的意识,培养学生的辩证思维。
本课包括两篇博客,对网络对友情的影响分别提出了正反两方面的观点。第一篇为The Internet Harms Friendships, 从网络交流方式,内容及对人的影响等方面论证了网络对友情的危害。第二篇题为The Internet Helps Friendships, 从网络交流的便利性、趣味性、及时性等方面论证了网络对友情的促进作用。

作者希望学生通过学习这两篇文章,了解网络对于友情的积极和消极影响,更积极地思考并深刻地理解人与科技的关系以及人应该如何在科技发展的过程中扬长避短,充分发挥科技的作用并尽可能消除其不利影响。同时,作者也希望学生通过两篇文章的对比学习,养成辩证看待问题的思维。此外,作者也希望学生通过学习这两篇课文,能够了解议论文的行文思路和结构特点,梳理议论文的结构,为议论文的写作打下坚实的基础。

两篇文章都是议论文,结构清晰,结构是总分总。虽然观点相反,但是文章结构几乎一致,第一篇有五个段落,除首尾段之外的三个主体段落从三个不同的方面论证了网络对于友情的危害:一是网络交流无法替代面对面的交流;二是网络让人变得更加自我,并且网络的交流内容比较肤浅;三是网络交流中人与人之间无法建立充分的信任。第二篇同样有五个段落,其中除首尾段之外的三个主体段落从三个不同的方面论证了网络对于友情的促进作用:一是网络让沟通更方便;二是网络让交流更有趣;三是在线的交流可以拉近人们的关系。

从段落内部结构和关系来看,两篇文章使用引用专家观点、举例、引用常理、对比和比较等手法,支撑了文章的各个分论点以及主论点。
两篇文章的作者都使用了大量的关联词,比如段首的Firstly, Secondly等这些词汇使得文章的脉络特别清晰,也给读者的阅读带来了便利。

除了关联词的使用,两篇文章在语言修辞方面还有不同的特点。
第一篇文章的作者使用多种句子形式。比如在表达主观点时,使用让步状语从句:while the Internet can bring people closer together..这使得作者的论点显得比较客观,避免了绝对,更有说服力。在第二段的末尾使用了强调句型,It is these skills that enable us to develop lifelong friendships.这使得句意的表达更加有力。另外该文章的作者在用词方面也非常准确,比如在形容社交媒体交流的内容时,使用了 shallow和trivial等词汇,表达到位。
第二篇文章的作者语言也非常生动,比如在第四段里说Nowadays, your friends are just a click away,形象地说明了网络能够拉近朋友间的距离。另外作者还借助引用使用了暗喻的手法(As Eileen Kennedy-Moore…points out: online friends “fill holes real-life friends can't”),形象地强调了网络交流相比于传统交流模式的优势。
