第二部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分50分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
These days having a best friend seems so important to girls. However I have learned that having one best friend is not the way to go. It's so much better to have many great friends.
As I was coming into middle school, I was really excited because my friend Jennifer was going to be in the same middle school! At first things were great, she introduced me to her friend Amy and we had lots of fun together. Then_things_started_to_change. Jennifer was very controlling: I couldn't make new friends, and pretty soon being Jennifer's friend was a struggle.
Jennifer wanted to be the “leader” of our little group. Amy and I were never partners with each other in class projects or gym; it was always, “Who gets the privilege(特权) of being Jennifer's partner?” Amy and I both wanted to be Jennifer's number one.
I always waited for Jennifer and Amy after class. They chatted by Jennifer's desk as Jennifer packed her books up and I waited by the door. Sometimes when they left, they'd walk right past me. No “Thanks for waiting.” No “Sorry we took so long.” It was as if they couldn't even see me.
After months of living through school this way, I had really changed. I was moody, depressed, lonely. I spent lots of days trying not to cry, I felt so left out.
Finally, near the very end of the school year, I was so incredibly sick of having to battle for friendship. I stopped sitting with Jennifer at lunch and stopped waiting for her after class.
It was tough at first, but now, I have tons of friends. We have fun and happy times together and I love them all to bits. It amazes me how easy our friendship is. There's no struggling to be on top. I wish Jennifer could understand. Maybe one day she'll look back at what happened and she'll change, but even though I lost a friend, I am a happier person
21.What is the purpose of the writer writing this passage
A.To describe her school life.
B.To talk about the way Jennifer treated her friends.
C.To advise girls to make many friends instead of one.
D.To show her regret towards losing a friend.
22.What does the sentence “Then_things_started_to_change” (Paragraph 2) refer to
A.The writer lost interest in study.
B.Being Jennifer's friend became a struggle.
C.Lessons became more and more difficult.
D.The writer gave up the friendship with Jennifer.
23.What can be implied from the last paragraph
A.All of the writer's new friends are equal.
B.The writer regretted a lot about losing a friend.
C.Jennifer has changed herself.
D.The school life is always difficult for the writer.
B
Do you jump out of bed early, wide awake and ready to start your day If so, you would be called an “early bird”. Perhaps, you hate the sound of your alarm clock (闹钟) each morning and have little energy until afternoon. If so, you're probably a “night owl”.
Most people can be divided into such two groups, but what makes us this way And is one better than the other There are different opinions.
Usually, early risers are praised as hard working while those who prefer to get up late are considered lazy. Most_people_believe_the_early_bird_catches_the_worm.
Yet some scientists now believe “night owls” can really focus longer and produce more than early risers.
Research has found that the early bird does not always get the worm. In a Belgian study, both “morning people” and “evening people” were watched during their normal waking hours. After 10 hours of being awake, the “evening people” became more alert (机敏的). However, the “morning people” became sleepy and less focused. Researchers believe the reason for this difference is that “night owls” receive a last minute increase from their brains. This added energy allows them to stay alert for longer periods of time.
Environment, lifestyle, activities and childhood routines all may have an effect on sleeping habits, yet genetics (遗传学) may play the biggest role.
It is possible to change your sleeping habits through regular bedtime, morning exercise and avoiding midnight snacks. But whether you're happy to rise early or to stay up late, you're probably doing what works best for your own personal body clock.
24.How does the author introduce the subject
A.By telling an interesting story.
B.By giving different opinions.
C.By showing research results.
D.By asking questions.
25.What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 3 really mean
A.Most people believe those who get up early achieve their goals.
B.Most people believe early to bed and early to rise is good for health.
C.Most people believe “night owls” can focus longer than “early birds”.
D.Most people believe “early birds” are as hard working as “night owls”.
26.What did the researchers find in a Belgian study
A.Late risers become sleepier than early risers.
B.Early risers become as focused as later risers.
C.Late risers can think more quickly after being awake for 10 hours.
D.Early risers can think more clearly after being awake for 10 hours.
27.What opinion does the author finally agree to
A.People should get up early.
B.Do things that suit you best.
C.Staying up late is good for health.
D.It's impossible to change one's sleeping habit.
C
I think that a great friend is like a great artist who can change my feeling about life greatly. When I talk about the person who influenced me most. I must think of my best friend quickly.
When I was in my university, one of my classmates sat beside me. His name is Wang Tao. He is my unforgettable friend in my life. He is good at study and handsome. Everyone knows that he is a genius (天才) of my university. Besides, he is kind hearted and is always ready to help others.
I remembered that my maths was poor at that time, but he was excellent in solving maths questions. He often got high scores. Since we talked all day long, he was patient and polite to answer my maths questions. Slowly, I made great progress. I passed the examination finally. Then we became friends naturally.
We know that we live in a society, so we need a lot of friends. There are two kinds of friends, good and bad, bad friend may make our life failed, while good ones make our life successful. To me, Wang Tao is a very good friend. I learned so many lessons from him, and I became more and more excellent.
We separated three months ago. Now I miss him very much, and I hope that our friendship will continue to be just as strong after we graduate.

When you choose a friend, you should be very careful. A good friend can help you study. You can have fun together and make each other happy. Sometimes you will meet fair weather friends. They will be with you as long as you have money or luck, but when you are down, they will run away. How do I know when I have found a good friend I look for certain qualities of character, especially understanding, honesty and reliability (可靠).
Above all else, I look for understanding in a friend. A good friend tries to understand how another person is feeling. He is not quick to judge. Instead, he tries to learn from others. He puts himself in the other person's place, and he tries to think of ways to be helpful. He is also a good listener.
At the same time, however, a good friend is honest. He does not look for faults (过错) in others. He notices their good points. In short, good friends will be honest to each other and accept each other.
Another quality of a friend is reliability. I can always depend on a good friend. If he tells me he will meet me somewhere at a certain time, I can be sure that he will be there. If I need a favor, he will do his best to help me. If I am in trouble, he will not run away from me.
There is a fourth quality that makes a friend special. A special friend is someone with whom we can have fun. We should enjoy our lives, and we would enjoy our friendship. That is why I especially like friends who are fun to be with. A good friend likes the same things I like. We share experience and learn from each other. A good friend has a good sense of humor, too. He likes to laugh with me. That is how we share in the joy of being friends. And I know that he is looking for the same quality in me.
When I meet someone who is reliable, honest, and understanding, I know I've found a friend!
32.Which of the following qualities the writer thinks is the most important in choosing a friend
A.honesty B.understanding
C.reliability D.a sense of humor
33.If you have fair weather friends, ________.
A.you will become rich
B.you can be sure that you get real friends
C.you will be refused when you get into trouble
D.they will give you all that they have when you need help
34.Good friends need to ________.
A.understand each other's feelings
B.be helped with money
C.always point out each other's mistakes
D.have money or luck
35.This passage mainly discusses ________.
A.the importance of having a friend
B.where to choose friends
C.how to get along with friends

Signs of Healthy Friendships
Once in a while it's helpful to see if your friendship is as healthy as it can be. You might get used to a friendship over time to the point where you don't see room for improvement. 第二节 读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
A knock at the front door announced a visitor. Phil Radcliffe opened the door, looked down, and found a small boy of about 10, head down and face hidden, nose sniffling (抽鼻子), obviously in some unhappiness.
Phil and his wife Molly lived in this neighbourhood for almost three decades. The families here all knew and trusted one another. Youngsters bounced from home to home looking for friends and entertainment. In the school holidays, Molly and Phil had been known to take children at a time to the local cinema to give some of the parents a break.
Having taken him to the living room and had him seated, Phil asked the boy, “Philip, what's happened?”
The boy seemed genuinely upset by the inquiry. “Sorry, Mr Radcliffe,” he sobbed, “My dad's just left home. He's not going to live with us any more. Mum's crying. It's made me cry. I don't think I'm going to see him again.”
Phil sat down next to him and put a comforting arm around his shoulders, trying to reassure the youngster, “I'm sure that you'll see your father again very soon, Philip. You're a lovely boy and he'll want to see you a lot. And your__teachers will understand if sometimes you're a bit sad.”
The boy wiped away his tears with the back of a hand.
“Let me get something for us,” Phil suggested. He went into the_kitchen,_and then returned with an orange juice for the boy, a coffee for himself and a selection of biscuits for them. However upset he might have been, young Philip was obviously happy with the drink and concentrated on the chocolate samples among the biscuits.
Once the boy seemed more settled, Phil proposed, “Perhaps you should call your mum and tell her where you are, so that she doesn't worry.”
“It's OK, Mr Radcliffe,” he insisted. “I'll go home in a few minutes. But I like talking to you.”
“You can stay as long as you want, Philip. I just don't want your_mother to think that she's lost you.”

Our school will hold an English dubbing contest on November 20th. I'm eager to have a try but have no idea which film is suitable. So I'm wondering if you'd give me some recommendations. According to the requirements, the theme should be about friendship. And each video may last 4 to 5 minutes.
I'd appreciate it if you could do me the favor. Looking forward to your reply.

When that happens, you'll be a different person, an older person. It will be hard but you'll manage it successfully—believe me.”
Paragraph 2:
On the doorstep, young Philip looked up at his friendly neighbour. “Thank you very much, Mr Radcliffe. I feel a bit better now. Can I call again sometime?”“Of course,” Phil promised. “Come and talk whenever you like. Molly and I love seeing you and your friends.” The boy then said very quietly, “But you might be out. Or you might move away.” Phil cast a kind look at the boy, placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, and assured him, “Don't worry. Whenever you want me, I'll be there. Whatever happens, I promise you that I'll be your friend as long as you trust me.”
