An adv erb is a w or d tha t describes or modif ies a v erb, an adjectiv e or another adv erb.
副词用来描述或修饰形容词,动词或另一个副词。
1 Bill Ga tes is a hug ely successful man.
副词hug ely 修饰其后的形容词successful, 非常地成功。
2 Bill Ga tes spe aks English f luently .
副词f luently 修饰其前的动词spe ak, 说得很流利。
3 Bill Ga tes spe aks English v er y f luently .
副词v er y 修饰其后的副词f luently, 非常地流利。

中英文对比
1 比尔盖茨是一个成功的人。
“ 成功的” 就是形容词,位于所修饰的名词“ 人” 前面。
2 比尔盖茨的英语说得流利。/ 比尔盖茨流利地说英语。
“ 流利” 就是副词,要么位于“ 得” 后面,要么位于“ 地” 前面,即围绕在所修饰的动
词“ 说” 的前后。
3 比尔盖茨的英语说得很流利。
“ 很” 就是副词,位于所修饰的另一个副词“ 流利” 前面。
总结:凡是看到中文“ 的” 前面的词语,对应英文的“ 形容词” ;凡是看到“ 地” 前面
或“ 得” 后面的词语,对应英文的“ 副词” 。

副词是一个非常广泛的词汇集合,可以描述一个动作是如何(ho w) 、在何地
(wher e) 或何时(when) 发生的。它们还可以用来修饰动作、形容词或其他副词

In most cases, an adv erb is f ormed b y ad ding -ly to an
adjectiv e.
多数情况下,一个形容词在词尾加ly 即可变成相应的副
词。
从中文的角度理解,形容词变成副词的过程就是
把“ ……的” 这样的词变成“ ……地/ 得......” 这样的词。
