Joe King Oliver was one of the great New Orleans legends, an early giant whose legacy is only partly on records. In 1923, he led one of the classic New Orleans jazz bands, the last significant group to emphasize collective improvisation over solos.
The first major blues and jazz singer on record and one of the most powerful of all time, Bessie Smith rightly earned the title of The Empress of the Blues. Even on her first records in 1923, her passionate voice overcame the primitive recording quality of the day and still communicates easily to today’s listeners (which is not true of any other singer from that early period).

Roots
be traced to the 1960s
The use of synthesizers in around 1968 brought about new musical creations that used one continuous beat that stayed the same through several songs, so the music never had to stop.
Tom Moulton was the first to mix standard three minute songs into longer versions for dancing.
Disco Swing
Born:1970
Many refer to this dance style as the "Hustle," which was in actuality a line dance introduced in 1975 by Van McCoy.
Donna Summer's music sent the disco craze worldwide, and when "Saturday Night Fever" was released in 1978, the popularity of disco dancing really exploded.
Effect
The disco craze brought disco versions of classical music pieces
A Fifth of Beethoven
Ravel's "Bolero,"
Y.M.C.A
In The Navy," a hit song for the Village People and a great recruitment tool for the military, which enjoyed an increase in enlistment as a result of the song's popularity.
Disco takes a dive
By 1980, the public had seen enough of the disco scene. Being overwhelmed with television shows such as "Dance Fever" and "Soul Train," as well as the increasingly complex moves dictated by competition dances, the phrase "Disco Sucks" began making the rounds.
Texas Two-Step
Popular: the 1980s thanks to "Urban Cowboy"
Salsa dancing subsequently replaced both in terms of popularity.
Today
Disco is still around.
Often called "house" music, it retains the beat made popular by disco music, and some new songs contain "samplings" from earlier disco tunes.

What is Swing
Swing, in music, both the rhythmic impetus of jazz music and a specific jazz idiom prominent between about 1935 and the mid-1940s—years sometimes called the swing era. Swing music has a compelling momentum that results from musicians’ attacks and accenting in relation to fixed beats. Swing rhythms defy any narrower definition, and the music has never been notated exactly.
What makes a
song swing
A typical swing song features a strong rhythm section supported by a more loose brass section, and later a string and/or vocal section.
depends on the song, band or the band-leader
multiple soloists can pick up the baton and pass it on, but commonly there are two or three band members improvising.

World Music
Trip hop
A cappella music
Popular music is music with wide appeal that is typically distributed to large audiences through the music industry. These forms and styles can be enjoyed and performed by people with little or no musical training. It stands in contrast to both art music and traditional or "folk" music. Art music was historically disseminated through the performances of written music, although since the beginning of the recording industry, it is also disseminated through recordings. Traditional music forms such as early blues songs or hymns were passed along orally, or to smaller, local audiences.
In music, form refers to the structure of a musical composition or performance. In "Worlds of Music", Jeff Todd Titon suggests that a number of organizational elements may determine the formal structure of a piece of music, such as "the arrangement of musical units of rhythm, melody, and or/ harmony that show repetition or variation, the arrangement of the instruments (as in the order of solos in a jazz or bluegrass performance), or the way a symphonic piece is orchestrated", among other factors.
World Music
World Music
World music is a Western musical category encompassing many different styles of music from other parts of the globe. It includes many forms of music that Westerners consider ethnic, indigenous music, folk music, neotraditional music, and music where more than one cultural tradition, such as non-Western music and Western popular music, intermingle.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop
It is originated in the early 1990s in the United Kingdom, especially Bristol. It has been described as "a fusion of hip hop and electronica until neither genre is recognizable", and may incorporate a variety of styles, including funk, dub, soul, psychedelia, R&B, and house, as well as other forms of electronic music. Trip hop can be highly experimental.
A cappella music
A cappella music
A cappella music is group or solo singing without instrumental accompaniment, or a piece intended to be performed in this way. The term "a cappella" was originally intended to differentiate between Renaissance polyphony and Baroque concertato style.
A cappella music
In the 19th century, a renewed interest in Renaissance polyphony coupled with an ignorance of the fact that vocal parts were often doubled by instrumentalists led to the term coming to mean unaccompanied vocal music. The term is also used, albeit rarely, as a synonym for alla breve.
New Age is a term applied to a range of spiritual or religious beliefs and practices that developed in Western nations during the 1970s. Precise scholarly definitions of the New Age differ in their emphasis, largely as a result of its highly eclectic structure. Although analytically often considered to be religious, those involved in it typically prefer the designation of spiritual or Mind, Body, Spirit and rarely use the term New Age themselves.
Many scholars of the subject refer to it as the New Age movement, although others contest this term and suggest that it is better seen as a milieu or zeitgeist. An influential contemporary figure Alice Ann Bailey, a theosophist, was one of the first writers to use the term New Age and Age of Aquarius.

There was a time when I was a child, I fell in love with her works and I imitated her actions as well as habits every day. I even attended every concert she gave no matter how high the price of each ticket was.
Whenever I was confronted with difficulties, after listening to her music, I could feel relaxed.
