Friendly Beijing
It was scary(恐怖的) when you got lost. On my first trip to Beijing, I got lost in the hutong. When I came to a small courtyard, I saw a young man sitting with a Chinese chess set. He said in good English, “Play a game ” “Yes!” I smiled. He was Kevin, and he had a job interview (面试) with a foreign company (外国公司). He offered me some Chinese tea. Kevin was kind. After our game, he guided me out of the hutong and I helped him with his interview. We met the next day and, happily, he got the job.
In one day I go lost, but I found a new friend.

My first Spring Festival
It was the week of the Spring Festival in Chengdu. I visited a noodle shop. I couldn’t read the menu (菜单)! Luckily, I got my food. But I still felt lonely (孤独的).
I came to my hostel (青年旅舍). It was a big room with eight beds. We didn’t know each other, but we were together for the festival.It was my first Spring Festival in China. The Chinese taught us to make dumplings. My new friends and I were away from our families. But at least for one night, none of us had to eat alone.

Night trains
Most of my wonderful travels were on night trains. I met many interesting people.
I talked with people on the train. Because of my poor Chinese, I showed my photos to them. It’s a great way to make new friends.Sometimes, however, a hard sleeper (硬卧) was not fun. But when my friends only had bar stories, I could tell them more interesting stories. I enjoyed my weekend travel on night trains.
