Unit 4 Where is my schoolbag
I.Teaching objectives:
By the end of this period, most Ss will be able to acquire the required information. This will be achieved by:
1. Knowledge objectives:
⑴ Be able to master the names of furniture items: table、chair、sofa、bed and bookcase.
⑵ Be able to master the prepositions of place: on、 in and under.
⑶ Be able to talk about where things are using the target language:
Where is … It’s in/on/under…
Where are … They’re in/on/under…
2. Ability objectives:
⑴ Be able to use the new words and prepositions appropriately.
⑵ Be able to make conversations to talk about where things are.
3. Moral objectives:
Arouse the students’ motivation and interest in learning English and guide them to keep their rooms tidy and clean.
II.Teaching key points:
1. Master the names of furniture items and prepositions of place.
2. Master the use of where-questions.
III.Teaching difficult points:
1. Ss may find it difficult to remember all the names of furniture items and prepositions.
2. Ss may find it difficult to make conversations to talk about where things are.

VI.Teaching procedures:
Step1.Warm up (5’)
Make a brief greeting. Then tell Ss: Firstly, I will teach you a song. Please sing after me.
Come and see my family under the old apple tree. This is my father (mother/brother/sister…).How do you do Sit down and have a cup of tea.
T: What do you think of the song
I think it is relaxing for family members to sit around and have their tea under the old apple tree. Do you know the meaning of “under” If not, don’t worry. We’ll learn it in Unit 4. Now please follow me to have a look at my new house.
设计意图:师生间的简单问候可以拉近师生间的距离。通过学唱英文歌曲,能激起学生的学习兴趣。一方面复习了上一单元句型This is…同时自然导入本课话题.
Step2. Presentation of the names of furniture items (7’)
1. Show Ss some pictures on the screen and teach the new words: table, chair, bed, sofa and bookcase.
2. Matching (1a)
Ask Ss to look at the picture in 1a, and ask them to match the words with the things in the picture. Then check the answer.
设计意图:先学现用,及时巩固新知。
Step3. Presentation of the prepositions (6’)
Show Ss another group of pictures and talk about the positions of the objects.
T: Where is the schoolbag
Help Ss answer: It’s under the chair. The same way to teach on and in.
Then help Ss find out the usage of the prepositions.
设计意图:运用图片教生词更直观,多媒体的运用可以吸引学生的注意力,使学生快速融入课堂,有利于提高课堂学习效率。
Step4. Practice (8’)
1. Pair work
Ask Ss to work in pairs and talk about where things are in the picture.
Then invite some pairs to present their conversations.
2. Fill in the blanks
Show Ss some pictures and ask them to fill in the blanks according to the picture. This time ask them to pay attention to the plural forms of the nouns. Then check the answers.
设计意图:通过结对活动,可以鼓励更多的学生参与,充分发挥学生的主体地位。练习的设计由易到难,单复数过渡自然。
Step5. Consolidation (1b) (5’)
Ask Ss to look at the picture in 1a again, this time they will hear a conversation. Then get them to listen to the recording and number (1-4). Play it twice. Check the answers as a whole.
设计意图:听力练习是语言学习不可缺少的一部分,加强听力训练,有助于提高学生的听说能力。
Step6. Production (9’)
Show some pictures to Ss and ask them to help my son find his school things.
T: My son always makes his things in a mess. It’s a bad habit. I hope you are not like him. A clean and tidy room can help us study better. Now please help him find his school things. You can talk about it freely and fill in the chart.

After they finish the chart, ask them to write a short passage about my son Vicky’s room. If time permitted, ask some Ss to read their passages. If not, do it as homework.

设计意图:设置真实的情境, 可以有效地提高学生的口语表达兴趣,培养学生综合运用语言的能力。同时通过让学生自由讨论,可以使内容更完整,从而降低了后面的写作难度。
Step7. Blackboard design (omitted)
Teaching reflection(教学反思):
本节课的教学内容、教学目标及教学重难点都以英语《新课程标准》为准则,从学生的认知水平出发,并以交际法语言教学为理论依据。笔者认为本节课有以下亮点:
1. 教学过程中以学生为主体,以兴趣为原则,以话题为主线,以运用为目标;
2. 互动过程中,能做到巧安排、善引导、多点拨,提问的话题能激发学生的兴奋点;
3. 教案的设计切合学生的实际需求,紧扣教材、提炼教材、立足教材、活用教材;
4. 课堂上能集中学生的注意力,课程目标达成度高。
