Ⅰ.Lead-in and warm upAsk the Ss to watch a movie.Whose birthday is in September What did you get How did you celebrate your birthday The Ss watch the movie.One or two students answer the questions. Motivate the Ss and lead in the new concept.
Ⅱ. New Concept.1.Ask students to listen the passage and answer the questions:(1)What presents did Li Ming get on his birthday (2)How old is Li Ming 2.Read the passage and answer 5 questions.Q1: Who brought the presents to Li Ming Q2: Why did Li Ming love the jacket Q3: Who came to Li Ming’s birthday party Q4: What did Li Ming’s mother buy for the party Q5: What did Li Ming’s family do when it was time for dessert 3.Read it again and find out the clause with “when”, translate them into Chinese.4.Practice to use the useful phrases and sentences.Exercise 1. The Ss listen to the tape and answer the questions.The Ss read the e-mail individually and then discuss the answers with partner.The Ss read it for the second time and get the meaning of the sentences.The Ss read the dialogue and fill in the blanks. Get to know more about the content and key information about the lesson. Students can master the knowledge through learning, studying.Students can get more and more practice by doing.
Ⅲ.Extensive reading.Read one passage named Birthday Around the World and fill in the chart. The Ss read the passage individually and then complete the table. Students can know the different culture about birthday.
Ⅳ.Practice.1.It’s the Ss’ turn to talk about their presents or parties.Ask some pairs to show their conversations.2.Ask the Ss to write a birthday card for their family members. Show your love and thanks to them. The Ss choose one of the samples to practice with partner.The Ss write the card to their family. To give ss time to practice their speaking and writing abilities.
Ⅴ.Summary.To love is to give, not only receive. It’s never too late to say I love you. Emotion promotion.
Home-work 1.Better your birthday card and show it to your family members.2.Write down the dialogue you have made in the class.3.Find more ways to celebrate birthday in different countries.
