一般过去时
1. 定义
一般过去时表示过去某个时间里发生的动作或状态，也表示过去习惯性、经常性的动作或行为。如：
I watched two films last night.我昨晚看了两部电影。(表动作)
He was little fat last year.去年他有点胖。(表状态)
2. 一般过去时的时间状语
一般过去时最明显的现象就是常由表达过去时间的状语来修饰句子，常见的时间状语有：yesterday afternoon, last year, two days ago, in 1998, this morning, just now, the day before yesterday, in the past, once upon a time等。
3. 一般过去时的句式结构
一般过去时的句式结构可分为含有be动词和含有行为动词两种，具体如下：
(1)be动词
①肯定句：主语+was / were+其他.
She was a college student last year. 去年她是一名大学生。
They were young in 1988. 1988年时他们很年轻。
②否定句：主语+wasn’t / weren’t+其他.
She wasn’t a college student last year. 她去年不是一名大学生。
They weren’t young in 1988. 1988年时他们不年轻了。
③一般疑问句及其回答：Was / Were+主语+其他？
—Was she a college student last year 她去年是一名大学生吗？
—Yes, she was. 是的，她是。/ —No, she wasn’t.不，她不是。
—Were they young in 1988 他们1988年时很年轻吗？
—Yes, they were. 是的，他们很年轻。/ —No, they weren’t. 不，他们不年轻了。
(2)行为动词
①肯定句：主语+动词一般过去式+其他.
She watched a film yesterday. 她昨天看了一部电影。
②否定句：主语+didn’t+动词原形+其他.
She didn’t watch a film yesterday. 她昨天没有看电影。
③一般疑问句及其回答：Did+主语+动词原形+其他？
Did she watch a film yesterday 她昨天看了电影吗？
Yes, she did. 是的，她看了。/ No, she didn’t. 不，她没有看。
4. 动词过去式的变化规则
(1)一般在动词词尾直接加-ed。如：watch→watched，look→looked
(2)以不发音的字母e结尾的动词，在动词词尾直接加-d，如：live→lived，hope→hoped
(3)以重读闭音节结尾且词尾只有一个辅音字母的动词，双写辅音字母，再加-ed。如：
stop→stopped, plan→planned, chat→chatted
(4)以“辅音字母+y”结尾的动词，把y变为i，再加-ed。如：study→studied，carry→carried
(5)不规则变化需单独记忆，如：give→gave，take→took，break→broke，teach→taught，begin→began，light→lit，catch→caught，draw→drew，fly→flew，wear→wore，speak→spoke
