五、教学过程:
Step 1 Before reading
1. Review the words in this unit.
Read the words and phrases carefully and put them in the correct columns.
( Students can review the words that they’ve learnt and the structure of the comparative.)
2. Fill in the blanks.
Look at the picture, and fill in the blanks using the right form of the words.
(This task can help students prepare for the following oral practice.)
3. Compare the monitor and the student himself or herself.
Compare the monitor in the class with the student himself/ herself by using the comparative sentences.
(In this way, students can review the structure of the comparative and realize what kind of abilities the monitor should have. )
Step 2 Reading an ad
1. Read the job ad and answer the questions.
(Help students to get the brief information of the job and know the structure of an ad.)
2. Read the ad again and fill in the blanks.
(After finishing this task, students will learn more about the ad and what kinds of information should be mentioned in an ad.)
Step 3 Speaking
1. Look at the chart, students can compare two candidates by using the comparative
sentences. Then they recommend who should get this job and give the reasons.
(This task will promote students to communicate with their partners to exchange their ideas and use the language comprehensively.)
2. Recommend who is good for this job in their own class, the students list the
names and the reasons on the blackboard.
(According to the example in the textbook and the information, students can make conversations with their partners by using the target language.)
Step 4 A real task
1. Tell students each group needs a leader to help the members with their English.
They should discuss what kind of person is good for this job.
(After discussing together, they had better write down the specific requirements about this job on the paper.)
2. Students will try to design their own job ads according to the requirements
that were discussed just now, and tell us the reasons.
(The teacher will instruct students to use comparative sentences in making their recommendation.)
