教材分析:
This lesson is about wildlife protection.The listening and speaking is about“How to protect endangered wildlife?Faced with the facts and numbers of wildlife loss,people begin to detect the reasons,then people such as the celebrities(Prince William and Yao Ming)are calling on to protect them.So students are guided to enhance the awareness of protecting wildlife and try to take part in some volunteer activities of protecting wildlife.

1.Predict the content by using visuals.
2.Learn to use the sentences such as“I'm concerned about...But now they are in danger.I want to know the reasons/why./What can we do to protect them?
3.Learn from the stars like Prince William and Yao Ming and enhance the awareness of protecting wildlife.
4.Guide students to try to put forward the solutions to the problems of wildlife protection and then discuss them with partners and present the results of discussion.
5.Master the pronunciation of stressed syllables.

教学过程:
Step1 Leading-in
1.Show the opening page of the unit and ask students to describe what they see in the picture and
how these animals relate to the title of the unit.
2. Read the quote on this page: When the buying stops, the killing can too. ---Wild Aid
What other endangered animals can you think of when reading this quote
Step2 Pre-listing
1. Ask students to look at three posters and describe what they see in the poster and what message they convey
2. What message do these 3 posters share
3. Which one moves you most Why
Step3 Listening
1.Read the text and try to fill in the blanks before listening. Then Listen and check your answers.
What on Earth Are We Doing to Our Planet
Our planet’s ________ is dying out at an alarming rate. Between150-200 species are becoming extinct every day. This mass extinction is caused by hunting, habitat ______, and pollution. We must make people aware of the problem and help _______ the endangered wildlife before it’s too late!
2. Listen to the second part and take notes.
1) How many elephants are killed on average every day
2) What did Prince William say about China
3) What is said at the very end What does it mean to you
Step4 Speaking
1.Look at the pictures of 3 different kinds of animals. Do some research on them based on these questions:
1) What problems do they face
2) What is being done to help them
3) With what you’ve found out, make a short speech about any one of them.
2. You can organize the information in this way:
I’m concerned about… (an animal)
They are… (problems)
Some measures are being taken to help them. (measures)
3.Read the following conversation as an example.
A: I’m concerned about the African elephants. What do you know about them
B: Well, I know that they’re being hunted and their habitat is getting smaller, so they’re in danger of extinction. Elephants need large living spaces, so it’s difficult for them to adapt to the changes.
A: That’s terrible. What measures are being taken to help them
B: The authorities are under pressure to build elephant parks and tell people not to buy elephant products.
Step5 Pronunciation
1.Read all these words and separate the syllables first.

2. Mark the syllables with different colors and put the words into correct groups. (red for primary stressed; black for secondary stressed; blue for unstressed)
Step6 Summary
In this lesson, we read posters about the serious problems of wildlife protection. We listened to a conversation and a talk about what measures people are taking to protect the endangered animals.
We practiced separating words by syllables and reading them with correct stresses.
