Q: Why do we use the present tense instead of the future tense when we put an “If ” before it
A: We use the future tense to say something will happen, but use the simple present tense to suppose if something comes true, what will happen.
If you wear jeans to the party
If you stay at home
If you take the bus to the party
If you go to the party with Karen and Anna
, the teachers won’t let you in.
, you’ll be scared.
, you’ll be late.
, you’ll have a great time.
从句
主句
Q: Can the “If…” part be an independent sentence

If you stay at home
If you take the bus to the party
If you go to the party with Karen and Anna
, the teachers won’t let you in.
, you’ll be scared.
