Diving into the mud, jumping over high walls, climbing ropes, lifting stones, jumping over fire and even throwing spears (标枪), twenty obstacles (障碍) over 6 km – the Spartan Race(斯巴达勇士赛) had it all! It is an adventurous event including some difficult activities.
Thousands of people competed during the day. I was part of a group of seven people and we all agreed that it was worth the pain and suffering. We worked as a team. We pulled each other over walls(把彼此拉过墙), supported each other when we were tired and ran across the finish line together. Things like this make the Spartan Race more than just a race. It is more of a personal challenge(更多是个人挑战) and bonding (联络感情的) experience with your friends.
Events like this push people out of their comfort zone and are becoming quite popular around the world. The Spartan Race began in the United States, but has quickly spread to lots of countries around the world, including China.
The race is named after the Spartans(斯巴达人) from ancient Greece. The Spartans were great warriors (战士). They were very strong and tough(坚强). Legend has it that one Spartan warrior was as powerful as several soldiers from other armies.(传说有一个斯巴达战士和其他军队的士兵一样强大。)
