The First Period (1a- 2c)
Teaching Aims and Demands:
1.Knowledge aims:
(1) Learn the new words: paper, pollution, prediction , future…
(2) Master the key structure:
—Do you think there will be robots in people’s homes
—Yes, there will.
—Will kids go to school
—Kids won’t go to school. They’ll study at home on computers.
(3). Learn to make predictions.
(4). Master the use of future tense with “will”.
(5). Learn the use of “There be …” sentence structure in future tense.
2. Ability aims:
Get the students to master how to make predictions.
Learn to master the use of future tense with “will”.
3. Moral aims:
One important thing in life is to have a great aim, and the determination to attain it .
Teaching Key Points:
1. Structures: future tense with “will”.
2. “There will be...” sentence structure in future tense.
Teaching Difficult Points:
1. Talk about quantities with “more, less, fewer”.
2. How to make predictions.
Teaching Methods:
Task-based teaching method; Pair work
Teaching Aids:
An English textbook, a projector and some pictures.
Teaching Procedures:
Step1. Lead-in
Show a picture and play a guessing game to make the students know about the robot.
Play a piece of video about the future robots.
Then lead in the topic–robots.
T: Do you think you will have your own robot one day

Step2. Presentation
(1) The teacher shows her own future.
(2) Let students do pair work.
A:What will you be in 10 years
B:I will be …
A:What will you do then
B:I will …
(3) Discuss: What will the life be like in 100 years
1).Will everything be free
2).Will books only be on computers, not on paper
3).Will there only be one country
4).Will people live to be 200 years old
5).Will kids study at home on computers
6). Will people have robots in their homes
Step3. Practice
(1) Finish Activity 1b. Listen and circle the predictions you hear in 1a.
(2) Finish Activity 1c. Ask and answer questions about the predictions in 1a.
(3) The teacher shows some amazing pictures in 3000 and tells the students everything will be possible.
T: What will the life be like in 3000 years

The teacher ask the students to compete with each other about the following question.
What do you think of your future in 100 years
If a student can speak one prediction about the future in 100 years, his or her group will get one point. (The students are very excited to do this.)
Step 5.Game time.
The teacher invites a boy or a girl to act as a future people from 3000. The students can ask the future boy or girl if their predictions about the future can come true.
Q: Can you tell me if these predictions will come true
(Many students take an active part in this activity which motivates their interest.)
Step 6.Discuss
What will happen to the earth in 100 years
There will be fewer trees.
There will be less water.
There will be more people.
There will be more cars.
There will be more pollution.
There will be more buildings.
There will be less free time.
Step 7. Consolidation
Group work: Make conversations about the predictions.
A: What’s your prediction about the future
B: I think there will be more pollution.
A: Really I don’t think so. But I think there will be fewer trees.
Step 8.Summary
1. Ask Ss to sum up the new words and structures.
2. We should be glad that the future will completely belong to us!
