条件状语从句
1.定义
条件状语从句是由引导词 if 以及unless等词引导的状语从句。
2.条件状语从句的常见引导词
(1)连词if，意为“如果；假如”。如:
If you fail in the exam, you will let him down．如果你考试不及格，你会让他失望的。
(2)连词unless，意为“除非；如果不”，相当于“if … not …”。如:
You will fail unless you work harder.=You will fail if you don’t work harder. 除非你更加努力，否则你会失败的。
注意: unless从句里的谓语只能是肯定式，因为unless本身表示否定意义。
(3)连词“so / as long as”，意为“只要”。如:
We’ll go camping so / as long as the weather is good. 只要天气好，我们就去露营。
3.if引导的条件状语从句
引导条件状语从句最常用的连词是if，表示在某条件下，某事很可能发生。常见的含有if条件句的复合句，主句和从句的时态有以下四种情况：
(1)主句是一般将来时，从句常用一般现在时，即“主将从现”。如：
If he runs, he will get there on time. 如果他跑步的话，他就能按时赶到那儿。
(2)主句是祈使句，从句常用一般现在时，即“主祈从现”。如：
If you want to have a chat, call me up. 如果你想聊天的话，打电话给我。
(3)主句含有may, might, can, must, should等情态动词，从句常用一般现在时，即“主情从现”。如：
If you go to Shanghai, you can visit the Oriental Pearl Tower. 如果你去上海，你可以参观东方明珠塔。
(4)表达客观事实或普遍现象时，主句和从句均用一般现在时，即“主现从现”。如：
If you heat ice, it turns into water. 如果你把冰加热，它会化成水。
注意：if 条件句的位置很灵活，可直接放在主句后面，也可放在句首。若if条件句放句首，从句后面要用逗号和主句隔开。如：
If you work hard, you will make great progress.=You will make great progress if you work hard. 如果你努力学习，你将会取得很大的进步。
