The Importance of Trees
As is known to all, trees are really important to our human beings.
First, Trees can beautify the environment and help to make the air clean. What’s more, trees can not only stop the wind from blowing the earth away but also stop the water from washing the earth away. Besides, a lot of water can be saved by forests. Last but not least, trees play important parts in our daily life. We can use trees to build houses or make different things.
However, it’s a pity that people have cut down too many trees. So important are trees that we should try our best to protect and plant them. The more, the better. Let’s take actions from now on.2022-2023 学年第一学期期中九年级质量检测

The epidemic(疫情) has changed our lives. It not only forces us to stay at home, but also changes the way we work, study and even go shopping. In many countries, the Novel Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has also changed the way people greet each other. To help stop the spread of the disease, people give up their usual greeting styles and invent safe ways. Let's take a look.
Lean forward, touch cheeks(脸颊) and make a kissing sounds. This is French people's favorite way of greeting. It's very romantic. But when facing the virus, kisses are not good. Etiquette expert(礼仪专家) Philippe Lichtfus gives people a suggestion: simply looking into a person's eyes can be a greeting. It's not so romantic but it's safe.
Like the French, Italians are also romantic people. When they meet, they always hug or kiss each other. Recently, an Italian grandma made a video to help everyone fight against the disease. She says that if you meet ,you can close one of your eyes and give them a wink. Isn't it cute
It's a very Australian thing to shake hands. But if you do this, the virus can jump from one person to another. Now a health official in Australia says a pat( 轻 拍 ) on the back would be better. But it also had some problems. For example, it's a bit rude if you do this to your teachers.
A video shows that an interesting greeting way is now popular in Iran. In the video, three Iranians meet and tap their feet against each other. They wear masks with their hands in their pockets. It looks like they are playing a fun game. If we can't shake hands, why not try to “shake” feet
Why do people give up their usual greeting styles nowadays
To make life more interesting.
To change their study way.
To protect themselves from the disease.
To invent some new things.
What does the French people's favorite greeting way include
①Touch cheeks. ②Hug each other. ③Make a kissing sound. ④Shaking feet
⑤Give a tap on the back. ⑥Lean forward. ⑦Look into a person's eyes. A. ①②⑥ B. ③④⑤ C. ①③⑥ D.②④⑦
What's the Italian grandma's suggestion to greet others
The structure(结构) of the passage is .
( ①= para.1 ② = para.2 ③ = para.3 ④ = para.4 ⑤ = para.5 )
A. ① B. ① C. ① D. ① ② ③ ④
②
② ③ ④ ⑤ ③ ④ ⑤ ② ③ ④ ⑤ ⑤
Where can we probably read this passage
A. In a story book. B. In a science book.
C. In a novel. D. In a newspaper. (D)
When you look up into the sky at night, have you ever felt that your eyes are
deceiving you It seems that stars are moving all the time.
Actually, there's nothing wrong with your eyes. This twinkle(闪烁的) effect is called scintillation( 闪烁现象). Scintillation happens because of air movement in the earth's atmosphere(大气). Light is “bent(弯曲)” when it travels through different parts of the earth atmosphere. As the air in the earth's atmosphere is moving all the time, the light traveling through the atmosphere makes the stars look as if they are moving, too.
The same thing also happens to things on the ground. On a very hot and shiny day, if you look at the road, you will see that the image( 影 像 ) in the distance is not clear and things move slightly. You can also see the same effect if you drop a rock into water. The rock appears a little unclear under the moving water.
This twinkling effect causes a lot of problems for astronomers( 天文学家), because they cannot observe the stars clearly. So, a telescope was needed in space so that the air movements in the atmosphere could be avoided. It took a long time to build the space telescope but finally in 1990, a huge space telescope called the Hubble Space Telescope was successfully sent into space. Since then, astronomers have made many important observations that have helped people understand space better.
The underline word “deceiving” in Paragraph 1 means .
欺骗 B. 帮助 C. 嘲笑 D. 闪烁
What can we learn from the second paragraph?
How scintillation does harm to our eyes
How scintillation happens in the atmosphere
Why light can travel through the atmosphere
Why the atmosphere air is moving all the time
When a rock is dropped into the moving water, it appears a little unclear. Why
Because the water is too light to lift the rock up.
Because the light is “bent” when traveling through the water.
Because the water becomes dirty when the light travels through it.
Because the rock becomes dirty when the light travels through the water.
The underlined world “they” in Paragraph 4 refers to .
A. stars B. problems C. telescopes D. astronomers
The passage is written to .
explain scintillation
explain how a telescope works
tell something about Hubble Space Telescope
tell us the twinkling effect causes a lot of problems
