Unit 4 What’s the best movie theater (SectionB 2a-2e)
Teaching aims and demands:
1. Knowledge objectives:
(1) Key vocabulary: talent, have…in common, magician, all kinds of, be up to, play a role in…, make up, for example, be good at, take…seriously, give, winner, the most talented, the most beautifully.
(2) Key sentence patterns:
Everyone is good at something.
All these shows have one thing in common: They try to look for the best singers, the most talented dancers, the most exciting magicians, the funnies actors and so on.
That’s up to you to decide.
They usually play a role in deciding the winner.
However, if you don’t take these shows too seriously,
they are fun to watch.
2. Ability objectives: Help students improve their listening and writing skills. Write their own sentences using the superlatives.
3. Emotional objectives: Gunis is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration. .
Teaching key points and difficulties: Target language.
Teaching and learning method: Task-based teaching method and cooperative learning method.
Teaching procedures:
Step1. Greeting and lead in
Using free talks and some pictures to lead in.
First, I’ll greet my students and make a self-introduction.
Then I’ll talk about their favorite sports and ask if they like
to watch movies . I’ll use some pictures about Got Talent to
lead in. .
Step2.Task 1. Which three talent shows are mentioned
Listen to the tape, at the same time, read the passage
quickly, find out which three talent shows are mentioned
I’ll try my best to encourage my students to read the
passage as quickly as they can . At the same time, pay attention to the three talent shows.
Step3. Task2 Clean the leaves
Clean the leaves. Students listen for the first time,
just grasp the main idea for the second time, listen and check
the answers together. After listening, encourage the students
to read these paragraph by themselves. Correct the mistakes
if necessary.
Step4.Task3 True or False.
I will give my students some sentences, write T if it is
right, write F if it is wrong. Correct them using the information
in the passage.
This activity aims to improve their careful reading skills..
Step5. Task4 Ask the questions..
Students should read the passage again, answer the five
questions.
This activity aims to cultivate their ability of fetching
useful information themselves.
Step6.Task5 Micro-class( challenge ourselves!).
This aims to consolidate the key language points. After
a short video, students will challenge themselves by doing
exercise.
Step7. Task6 Groupwork.
Four or five students are in a group , write their sentences
using at least three of the superlatives. Who is the Got Talent in
our group First, match the superlatives with the activities, then
talk about it with their group members, there will be a leader in
each group, the leader will give a report.
Step8. Emotional education
No matter what kinds of difficulties you may face, believe
in yourselves. I’m sure you can overcome them with your
optimism, bravery and persistence. Genius is one percent
inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.
