I. Teaching objectives:
1. Knowledge objectives:
a. The Ss.can pronounce and understand the new words appeared in the article,like star, really, healthy, habit, fat, ect.
b. The Ss.can have a good general understanding of the article, and use what they comprehend to deal with some questions about the reading material.
2. Ability objectives:
a. Through communicative,reading and listening activities, most Ss.should be able to have a good understanding of the reading material and get the required information correctly.
b. Through communicative teaching and tasks, most Ss.can get a good practice in spoken English and can express themselves properly.
3. Moral objectives:
To help develop Ss’awareness of healthy eating and encourage them to form good eating habits.
II. Teaching important&difficult points:
1. Teaching important points:
a. To help the Ss.to have a good mastery of the new words and obtain a good understanding of the article.
b. To help the Ss.master and consolidate the present third person singular form before, during and after the reading process.
2. Teaching difficult points:
How to activate the Ss’enthusiasm in class for the reading material,especially the enthusiasm for participating in English learning.

I will use communicative method, task-based reading, listening, writing, and pair-work in this class.

StepI.Warming-up
--Let’s chant!
Guide all the Ss.to chant so as to activate the knowledge that they’ve learnt already.
StepⅡ. Lead-in
--Let’s talk!
Show the three phrases--“for breakfast/ lunch/ dinner”and have some communicative talks among the Ss.
T: --Do you like...for...
S: --Yes, I do. / No, I don’t. I like...
Step Ⅲ. Before reading
Show a picture of Yao Ming so as to lead to the new words, like star, really;besides, lead to the picture of the very character in this article, Cindy Smith.
Step Ⅳ. First reading
1. Have some comment on sports stars’eating habit, and lead to the title of the article.
2. Pose a question about what the passage is mainly about so as to let the Ss.know the main idea and realize the reading strategy they’re using--skimming.
StepⅤ. Detailed reading
1. Read the article. Circle and read all the food words.
2. Read carefully and complete a chart about Cindy’s eating habits.
3. Deal with two detailed messages with the help of the Ss.
--Lead to another reading strategy--scanning.
4. Listen and ask and answer.
Do a short interview towards “Cindy”.
5. Free talk:
To know about the Ss.opinions on Cindy’s eating habits.
The teacher can show her own opinion on this point.
Then, the teacher shows one short article of her own and her
friend’s eating habits.
StepⅥ. Post-reading task
Writing practice!
Now, it’s the Ss’time to show their own and their friend’s eating habits. Since the students have got much knowledge about themselves and their friends, now,ask them to write a short report.
Ss’show time. And lead to the moral objective education.
