The rocks proved later at one time in the distant past, Antarctica was covered by plants. In fact, these rocks turned out to be fossils of great significance, which provided strong evidence for humans to explore and research the South Pole. Obviously, we can infer they knew the importance of the rocks.

Would you say that Scott and his team were losers Why or why not
They showed determination and strength of character which is seen in heroes. They are not losers but inspirational figures. They kept their goals in mind. They carried the rocks even in the hopeless situations. The spirit and what they did helped the followers do further research.
They did not only think about themselves but also about the greater benefits of humankind.
They created what is called “the heroic age of Antarctic exploration”. Since then, humans have never stopped exploring Antarctica.
