Teaching Procedures
Step1 warm-up
Let students enjoy the song Jingle Bell, ask Ss what it is about. (Christmas)
T: Christmas is coming. When is it
Ss: Dec. 25th.
T: You are so clever. Christmas is about happiness and parties. People celebrate it in many ways. I‘d like to hold a party for it this Saturday. Can you come to my party
S1: Sure , I’d love to .Thanks for asking.

Step2 Presentation
1. Present the pictures and let students answer: what are they doing in each picture Elicit some phrases from students.
2. Show these expressions and repeat each one.
3. Ask students to finish Activity one.
4. Teach Activity 1b. Play the tape, then check the answers.
5. Teach Activity 1c. Look at the pictures and make conversations in groups. Then ask some of them to present their conversations in front of us.
Step3 Practice
1. First ask students to go through the sentences in Activity 2a, then listen to the tape and circle “can” or “can’t”.
2. Listen to the tape again and complete the chart. (Activity 2b)
Step4 Consolidation
Teach Activity 2d
First, have a fast reading of the conversation.
Then, show some questions to check students’ learning and explain some language points.
Step5 Pairwork
1. Ask your friends to come to….. Find out who can come, who can’t come. Then fill in the chart. ( some phrases and sample conversations may be helpful for you)
2. Invite some pairs to perform their conversations to us.
