Analysis of learning material For the topic of shopping, students are familiar with it and they have read some materials about shopping before. For Unit 2, it is designed for practicing students’ reading capability. The passage is an argumentation so it is new for students. Therefore, in this unit, students are supposed to know the meaning of passage; learn how to get specific information and learn something about argumentation.
Analysis of students Students in Class 11 are very active but their English is poor. They are willing to learn English even though they always make mistakes. These students have few chances to read the argumentation so it will be a little difficult for them.
Learning Objectives Language aims: Know the meaning of the passage; know about the advantages and disadvantages of online shopping. Abilities aims: Learn how to skim and scan the passage and find specific information; know how to prepare for a debate. Emotional aims: Understand each coin has two sides and have a wisdom consuming attitude.

Step 1 Warming-up & Lead-in (2 minutes) Say hello to the students and let them guess what Miss Huang is going to do this weekend. Let students have a free talk: How many ways of shopping do you know (window shopping; online shopping; telephone shopping) Guess Miss Huang’s activity based on the picture. Talk about different ways of shopping. To activate students to take part in the lesson. To introduce what they will learn in this lesson.
Step 2 Pre-reading (4 minutes) Ask students to have a debate: Do you think online shopping is good or not Why And then, have a free talk about how to prepare for a debate about online shopping. Students share their opinions about online shopping. Students think how to prepare for their debate according to the table. Students can share their understanding about online shopping and debate. Students can learn how to prepare for a debate and make preparation for reading.
Step 3 Fast reading (5 minutes) Let students to read the passage and match the main idea of each paragraph. Point out the way to find main idea:pay attention to the first sentence of each paragraph. Step 6 Quiz & Homework (7 minutes) Ask students to finish the quiz and check the answers with them. Assigns the homework to students. Finish the quiz and check it each other.
