Teaching Aims:
After learning, students can:
1. understand and correctly use the following words: sandwich, butter, turkey, lettuce and piece.
2. describe what the teacher likes in a sandwich and how to make it.
3. describe what the boy in the conversation likes in a sandwich and how to make it.
4. describe what they like in a sandwich and how to make their favorite sandwiches.
5. show love to their parents by making a sandwich with something that their parents like.
Teaching Key Points:
1. Learn what the teacher likes in a sandwich and how to make it.
2. Learn what the boy in the conversation likes in a sandwich and how to make it.
3. Talk about what they like in a sandwich and how to make it.

Teaching Procedures:
Step I. Warm-up and Revision
Before class, play a short video about sandwiches.
Ask, “What food can you see in the video ” Show a photo of a sandwich. Teach the word “sandwich” and tell students we are going to learn how to make a sandwich.
Before learning, ask students to tell me what food they have learned to make in this unit.(banana milk shake, Russian soup, fruit salad and popcorn.) Show photos of the four kinds of foods. Let students choose one of them to review how to make it. Make sure they can correctly use “first, next, then, after that and finally” when describing a process.
Step II. Presentation
Show a photo of my favorite sandwich. Tell students what a sandwich is and we can put anything we like in it. Let students look at the photo and describe what I like in a sandwich. Teach the new words at the same time. (lettuce, turkey, butter and piece.)
Then teach students how to make my favorite sandwich. Use the word cards as real objects to make the sandwich. Let students listen and watch carefully. Then invite students to tell me how to make my favorite sandwich.
Step III. Listening and Speaking
Show a photo of a boy. Let students listen to a conversation and find out what he likes in a sandwich and how to make it. First students listen and fill in the blanks.
Check the answers and after this let students describe how to make the boy’s favorite sandwich.
Step IV. Pairwork
Students work in pairs and tell each other what he or she likes in a sandwich and how to make it.
Later invite some students to perform before the class. Let them give a report like this:
Have a competition between boys and girls. Praise the ones who do best.
Ask other students some questions according to the students’ reports to check if they have listened carefully.
Step V. Summary
T: Today we have learned how to make a sandwich. I hope next time when you are at home, please make one for your parents. Remember to put the things that your parents like in the sandwich. I think it’s a good chance to show your love.
