Step 1 Warm up.
Greetings T: Good morning, class.
Ss: Good morning, teacher.
T: Nice to see you.
Ss: Nice to see you, too.
Step2 Talk
This activity aims to ask students to make conversations using passive voice to talk about the history of some inventions they know. And this activity also help train Ss’ ability of speaking. Get the Ss to look at the screen and talk about the inventions with the sentence structures:
(1)What is this called in English

It was invented in…………
(3)Who was it invented by………
It was it invented by…………
(4)What is it used for…………
It's used for…………
(5)What are these called in English

Step 3 A guessing game
This activity aims to improve the Ss'speaking skill and develop the students'ability of thinking in English.
Get the Ss to guess the teacher's favorite invention using the passive voice.
Step 4 Grammar study
This part is designed to make students master the use of passive voice.and the sentence structures of the Simple Past Tense and pay attention to the details of it.
(1)Ask the students to say,
①the form of passive voice , be+V-pp.
③the Simple Past tense, was/were+V-pp.
(2)Get the Ss to read out the sentences on the screen and experience the different sentences structures,Explain the grammar in details.
A:They put off the meeting because of the weather.
B:The meeting was put off because of the weather.
A:They asked us not to talk in the library.
B:We were asked not to talk in the library.
A:I saw a heavy man enter the house.
B:A heavy man was seen to enter the house.
Step 5 Practice
This activity aims to help the students to consolidate the grammar by doing some exercises.
(1)Get the students to try doing some oral exercises on the screem..
(2)Get the students to do some written exercises in P44 of the textbook.first tell the Ss how to do them,.then get them to do Exx 4a 4b and 4c individually.Then check in pairs and discuss any difficulty,finally check with the whole class. Students correct mistakes if any.As for 4c, ask students three questions and answer;
1)When was Bell born 2)What did he do
3)What was the first word the Bell said on the phone
Step 6 Writing
Ask the students to write a passage to describe their favorite invention,then show theirs to the whole class.
Step 7 Summary
In this period we have learned about the history of inventions by using the passive voice and masted the use of the simple past passive voice..Through the practice, We have also developed our speaking and writing skills.
