时间状语从句和过去进行时态:
1) when可指时间点, 又可指时间段, 从句中
可用延续性动词, 也可用非延续性动词。

2) while总是指一个时间段, 从句中必须用延 续性动词。

Step 5 问题探究
1.过去进行时态
①那个时候我正在看电视。I_was_watching_TV_at_that_time.
这是过去进行时态的简单句形式,过去进行时表示在过去某一时间内正在
进行或持续进行的动作。其结构为:主语+be的过去式+动词的现在分词+其
他。其中 be随主语的人称和数的变化而变化。当主语是第一人称或第三人称单
数时用 was,主语是第二人称或第一、三人称复数时用 were.
2.when 和 while 的用法
① 当我看到玛丽的时候她正在吃饭。
When I saw Mary,she was eating.
② Linda睡觉的时候 Jenny正在做什么?
What was Jenny doing while Linda was sleeping
when是 at or during the time that,既指时间点,也可指时间段;while是 during
the time that,只指时间段,因此 when引导的时间状语从句中的动词可以是终止
性动词,也可以是延续性动词,而 while从句中的动词必须是延续性动词。
when说明从句的动作和主句的动作可以是同时发生,也可以是先后发生;while
则强调主句的动作在从句动作的发生的过程中或主从句两个动作同时发生。
由 when引导的时间状语从句,主句用过去进行时,从句应用一般过去时;
如果从句和主句的动作同时发生,两句都用过去进行时的时候,多用 while引导。
