3a A magazine interviewed some parents about after-school
classes for children. Read the opinions below and make
notes on your own opinions.
Why should children take after-school classes Your opinions
1. “After-school classes can help kids get into a good university.” 2. “I want my child to be a successful person.” 3. “It’s good for children to start learning from a young age.” Agree:
Disagree:
After-school classes are good for the children’s future. They can help children get into good schools and universities.
Some of these classes help children get better grades at
school. Better grades can make children feels good about
themselves.
Agree
Some classes help children learn important skills that are not taught at school. These courses help children relax themselves, for example, playing a sport or playing a musical instrument. People learn better at a younger age.
Children have more free time than adults, so they can take full advantage of their time by learning new things.
Disagree
After-school classes take away the children’s free time. Children have no time to relax. Children may be so busy that they have no time to absorb and apply what they have been taught in class. Some children have to learn skills they are not interested in. These classes made the children feel stressed.
3b Write a letter to the magazine to express your opinions

因此
Dear Sir or Madam,
I don’t really agree with the opinion that children should take after-school classes because children have to work hard at school and actually they have taken enough stress. Although some parents are right about the ideas to make their children successful, I think children have right to choose their own interests and hobbies.

Opinion
In my opinion, it is important for parents to discuss with their children about whether children have to take after-school classes. If parents show their respect to their kids, there will be a good result.
