Textbook analysis:
This book is from Grade 9, People’s Educational Press. It is a authoritative press. This unit aims at developing students’ good habits of learning English and help them master the four basic English learning skills. Moreover, this unit helps students build up confidence in learning English.
Students analysis:
This is for Grade 9 students. They have learned some basic English knowledge. They have accumulate more than 1000 words, learning several sentence patterns and can express themselves flexibly and appropriately. They can use English to make some complex writing and dialogue and comprehend the passage more than 600 words by themselves.
Teaching objectives:
By the end of the class, students are able to learn some tips of improving English.
By the end of the class, students are able to learn the usage of preposition of “by”.
By the end of the class, students are able to improve their interest of learning English.
By the end of the class, students are able to develop their cognitive strategies of learning English.
Teaching contents:
Warming-up:
Greeting: How often do you do exercise
What’s your favorite hobby
What do you often do on the weekend
Game: Sharping Eyes: Read the phrase aloud when you see it.
Lead-in: Introduce Tom who is writing English paper but he is not good at English.
Presentation:
Present the phrases and learn the usage of “by+doing sth”.
Practice:
Practice using the phrase by listening to the tapes and finding out the phrase with “by”.

Teaching reflection:
This class is active and can activate students’ motivation. Students are asked to finished some tasks and exercises together. They can improve their cooperative spirit. However, when teaching the new phrases, teacher is the center, which cannot motivate students interest. Next time, I should try to use a more interesting way to make the presentation part better.
