Unit 1 Where did you go on vacation
(Section A, Activity 1a-1c)
I. Teaching Aims:
1. Knowledge objects
(1) Learn to use the target language to talk about past events.
Target language: -Where did you/he/she go on vacation
- I /He/ she went to the mountains.
- Did you/ he/she eat any good food
- Yes, I/he/she did. / No, I/he/she didn’t.
(2) Memorize the phrases about activities: stayed at home, went to New York City, visited my uncle, went to summer camp,went to the mountains, went to the beach, visited museums and so on.
(3) Use the simple past tense of regular and irregular verbs.
2. Ability objects
(1) Train the students’ ability of getting information by listening.
(2) Develop the students’ communicative competence by talking about their vacations.
(3) Improve the students’ writing ability by using the target language.
3. Culture objects
Let students know more places of interest about their hometown and love their country.

StepⅠ Greetings
1.Free talk.
2. Talk about the summer vacation with some students.[T= Teacher, S= Student]

Step Ⅱ Pro-task(Lead-in)
1. Tell students that they are going to watch a TV show , Where did they go , this class, but they have to finish a task first: Find out the past forms of the words on the blackboard.
2. Hand out some cards to different students, ask them to put the past forms next to the right verbs . After finishing, check their answers.
〔设计意图:通过创设真实的语言情景激发学生的学习兴趣,使学生积极地加入课堂教学。游戏的设置旨在复习动词过去式,为新语言的学习扫清障碍。本环节采用了情景法和复习法。〕
Step Ⅲ While- task
Task 1: Key vocabulary learning
1. Play a video and let students watch. Then introduce the five children’s vacations.
2. Ask students to watch the pictures on the screen and answer the questions. Let students repeat the key phrases after the teacher.
3. Ask a student to answer the questions by using the first person “I”. The other students talk about the pictures by themselves.
T: Shitou, where did you go on vacation
S1: I went to the beach.
T: Did you go with your father
S1: Yes, I did.
4. Let students repeat the phrases and practice the conversations in different ways.
Task 2 : Make new conversations(Activity 1c)
1. Show all the vacations on the screen. Ask students to look at the pictures and make new conversations with their partners about where they went on vacation.
2. Ask a few pairs of students to present their conversations to the class.
Task 3: Activity 1a
1. Read the instructions to the class.
2. Ask students to match the activities with the pictures. When they have finished, ask students to show their answers by reading aloud.
Task 4: Activity 1b
1. Read the instructions to the class. Say, listen to five students talking about where they went on vacation and finding out what their names were.
2. Play the recording the first time, students only listen. Then play the recording a second time. Ask students to number the people in the picture.
3. Check their answers by asking and answering.

Step Ⅳ Post- task(Writing practice)
1. Play a video and tell students that the five children had a wonderful vacation with their fathers in Yuxi. Ask students to work in groups and write about their Yuxi Vacation.
2. Put up the posters on the wall. Let students find their favorite children and begin to write in groups.
3. As students work together, move around the room offering language assistance as needed.
4. Ask a few groups to share their essays with the class.
5. After that, tell the class that our Yuxi is so wonderful, so we must love it and try our best to make it more beautiful.
〔设计意图:通过视频的播放激发学生的写作欲望,通过展示宣传海报来明确写作目的,让学生在写作中学会运用目标语言来综合表达自己的想法。本环节采用了小组合作和成果展示等方法。〕
Step Ⅴ Exercises
Give students a small passage about traveling in Chengjiang and ask them to complete the passage by themselves. After that, check their answers.

Step Ⅵ Summary
Summarize this lesson by asking different students to share what they’ve learnt .
