一、学情分析:
我们教学的对象是八年级学生(以中等生为主),他们学习英语有较强的记忆力和模仿能力,有待培养知识的扩展运用能力。有较强的求知欲和表现欲,但部分学生存在不自信,羞于表现等思想顾虑,但又希望能得到他人的肯定。因此我在教学活动中尽量让他们参与到活动中来,有更多的机会来说英语,减少他们的恐惧感。对缺少丰富的语言基础,对某些任务的完成有一定的难度,通过学生间的合作学习,降低他们的学习难度,使他们体验到成功的喜悦。 因此我们应根据学生实际情况,对知识的增、减、删做细心研究,尊重学生现有的知识水平和认识差异,着眼学生的个性发展,把握整体目标走向。
二.Teaching aims:

三、教学重难点:

四、Teaching procedures:
StepI. Lead-in
Ask Ss to look at a photo of my sister and me. Introduce the photo
to tell Ss “I’m more outgoing than my sister.”
StepII. Presentation
Ask Ss to see some pictures.
Then compare some of them with each other.
Find out their differences.
Give Ss some examples by comparing.
e.g. YaoMing is taller than Pan Changjiang..
Pan Changjiang.. is shorter than Yao Ming.
StepIII. Summarize the Comparatives. (Group competition )
A + be(V.) +比较级 than + B.
StepIV. Brainstorm.
Ask Ss to compare with their partners and find out the differences.
She is heavier than me.
I’m more outgoing than my sister..
She gets up earlier than me.
I run faster than her.
StepV. Listening
Then listen to the tape. Answer the questions . Check the answers
StepVI. Pair work
Point out the sample sentence. Then make some sentences.
Say, now work with a partner. Make your own sentences about the twins. Ask several pairs to say one or more of their sentences.
StepVII. Listening again.
Work on 2b.
Point out the picture and the two boxes with the headings:
Tina is …..and Tara is……
Say, listen to the recording.
Write the missing words in the boxes.
The words are from the list in activity 2a.
StepVIII. Pair work
1. Point out the chart in activity 2c.
Say, Make your own conversations according to the information.
Ask pairs to continue on their own.
2. Ss practice their conversations.
3. Ask some pairs to act out their conversations.
