一、Teaching Aims:
1. Knowledge aims:
1) To master the new words:theater, comfortable, seat, screen, best sound, close to, ticket .
2) To master the key sentences:
① What’s the best movie theater
② It has the biggest screens.
③ It’s the most popular.
④ It has the most comfortable seats.
⑤ It is the closest to home.
3) To know the new grammar:
①To know the usage of the superlative;
②To describe the theater using the superlative.
2. Emotional Aims
Let students know that try best to do everything.
二、Teaching important and difficult points
1. Teaching important point:
1)To master the key words and key sentences.
2)To know the form of the superlative.
2.Teaching difficult point:
To describe things using superlative.
3、Teaching Procedures:
Step 1. Leading in
1.Free talk : What do you usually do on weekends Do you want to go to the cinema
2.Show students 3 cinemas in Fu Yang. And compare them, then let students help me to choose the best one of them.(Purpose: Through comparing 3 cinemas, let students know the form of the superlative ).
Step 2. Presentation
1. Lead students to Wan Da Cinema and learn some new words: theater, comfortable seat, best sound, screen, friendly service, ticket, close to home.
2. Learn the qualities of a theater, then make a survey “Which is the most important for you in a theater ”(Purpose: To let student learn to use the key phrases ).
Step 3. Listening
1.Tell students my friends are going to the theater, and they are talking about 3 theaters of Fuyang. Then introduce the 3 theaters (Town Cinema, Screen City, Movie World).
2.To know the qualities of the 3 theaters.(Purpose: To make sure students know the meaning of the sentences.)
3.Play the recording for the students to listen and match the statements with the right movie theater.
4.Play the recording again. Fill in the blanks in their handouts. (Purpose: To practice students’ listening skill).
Step 4. Brain storm
Show five pictures of movie stars. Let students to choose one of them. If he/she can answer the question correctly, he/she can get some marks.
Step 5. Group work
1. Discuss your favorite movie star in groups and tell us the reason using the superlative.
2. You can do it like this:
In my group, Xiaoming’s favorite star is Fan Bingbing. Because she is the most beautiful. B’s favorite star is…, because she/he is…. C’s favorite star is…, because she/he is…
(Purpose: Practice students’ speaking and writing skills).
Step 6. Emotion education
Let students guess my favorite movie star Huang Bo.
Tell students Huang Bo isn’t handsome, but he is hard-working. So try your best to do everything and you will be a better man.
