Unit 6 I’m going to study computer science.
Section A
I. Teaching Aims.
1. Knowledge aims:
(1) Grasp the new words:grow up, computer programmer, cook, doctor, engineer, violinist, driver, pilot, pianist, scientist
The new sentence patterns:
① ─What do you want to be when you grow up
─I want to be an engineer.
② ─How are you going to do that
─I’m going to study math really hard.
(2) Learn the simple future tense.
2. Ability aims:
(1) To improve students’ ability of listening and speaking.
(2) To improve students’ ability of communication and social practice about their future plans.
3. Emotional aims:
Through learning this class, students are interested in talking about their dreams and future plans. It is good for students to improve learning initiative. The teacher encourages the students to try hard to achieve their dreams and future plans.
II. Teaching important points and difficult points.
1. Teaching important points:
Use the simple future tense freely and communicate with others about future plan.
2. Teaching difficult points:
Express the future plan using the simple future tense.

IV. Teaching procedures.
Step I. Lead-in
1. Show students a short video and let them talk about their understanding of “dream”.
2. Look at some pictures about jobs:
policeman, waiter, doctor, cook, singer, driver…
Step II. Presentation
1. Learn some new words about jobs:
computer programmer, cook, engineer, violinist, pianist, pilot, scientist…
2. Try to remember the new words.
3. Learn the sentence pattern to ask about future jobs.
─ What do you want to be when you grow up
─ I want to be an engineer.
4. Practice the conversation with classmates using the information on the screen.
Step III. Language points
1. Show the photos of the teacher and her mother in the big screen. Present the new sentence pattern:
─ How are you going to do that
─ I’m going to + V.原形 .
2. Learn the usage of “ be going to ”. Then use it to make some sentences.
3. Let Ss try their best to remember the new points and practice it.
Step IV. Pair work
1. Let Ss practice the model with a partner.
2. Choose some pairs to show their dialogues.
Step V. Listening
1. Let Ss read the chart below. Tell Ss that they’ll listen to Cheng Han’s plans for the future. They should answer the questions:
“What” means “What does Cheng Han want to be ”
“Where” means “where is Cheng Han going to work ”
“How” means “How is he going to do it ”
“When” means “when is he going to start ”
2. Play the recording for the Ss to write the correct answers in the chart.
3. Play the recording again to check the answers.
4. After listening, let Ss do an interview. Then make a report.
Step VI. Summary and Homework
1. Summarize what they have learnt during this class.
2. Please write a passage about your dream job.
(I have a dream. I want to be a / an…)
