完形填空(共10小题,每小题1分, 共10分)
An old saying goes, “When in Rome (罗马), do as the Romans do.” I learned the meaning of this when I studied in Russia.
One day I 11 some of my Chinese friends to a famous local restaurant in Moscow. My guests and I were excited from visiting Red Square and happy about our meeting. We chatted 12 until the waiter told me that we were talking too loud. We turned our voices lower. But this didn’t last long. The waiter came over to us two more times with the same 13 .
How bad an impression (印象) we must have left on the local people! In China, it’s natural and 14 for a host (主人) to make a lively atmosphere (气氛). However, in Russia and western countries, having a meal in a public place means you must 15 your voice low. You need to be polite to others.
I felt 16 about this. Even though we tried our best, it’s very difficult to form a new habit. Russians have their own special habits. My Russian friend, Andrey always looks around and thinks for a while before leaving home. I asked him 17 he did this. “Aha,” Andrey said. “In Russia, people always spend about a minute 18 things and plans in their minds before leaving. So they won’t leave 19 necessary behind.”
Finding the differences between 20 is very interesting. I’d like to keep my eyes and mind open.

18.A.going around B.going over C.going on D.going for

In Britain you may often hear “Drop in any time” or “Come to see me soon”, but you can’t really do that. People just say those things to make you feel welcome. It is better to telephone before visiting someone at home. If you receive a written invitation to an event that says “RSVP”, you should reply to let the person who sent the invitation know whether or not you plan to go.
You should never accept an invitation unless you really plan to go. You may refuse by saying, “Thank you for inviting me, but I will not be able to go.” If, after accepting, you are unable to go, be sure to tell those who are expecting you as soon as possible that you will not be there.
Though it is not necessarily expected that you give a gift to your host, it is considered polite to do so, especially if you have been invited for a meal. Flowers, chocolate, or a small gift are all appropriate (合适的). A thank-you note or telephone call after the visit is also considered polite and is an appropriate way to express your appreciation for the invitation.
26.What can you do when a British friend says, “Drop in any time”
A.Visit him or her at any time.

When you meet someone for the first time, you will get a quick idea in your mind of that person in the first moment. Your feelings about other people, however, are really just show the way that you look at yourself.
So you can allow others to be the mirror (镜子) to see your own feelings of self-worth more clearly. And, you can see the people you don’t like as mirrors to show you what you are not accepting about yourself.
To live peacefully with others, you will need to learn patience. A big challenge is to let your judgment(评判)of others be a lifelong research of yourself. Your task is to consider all the judgments you make onto others carefully and to begin to see whether you can use them to help yourself to become better.
Several days ago I had a business lunch with a man who showed objectionable table manners. My first feeling was that he was impolite. When I noticed that I was judging him, I stopped and asked my - self what I was feeling. I discovered that I was nervous to be seen with someone who was eating with his mouth open. I was very surprised to find how much I cared about how the other people in the restaurant judged me.
Remember that your judgment of someone will not stop you from becoming like him. Although I think my lunch partner impolite, it does not prevent me from looking or acting like him. In the same way, my patience to him would not make me eat food with my mouth open.
When you get close to life in this way, those whom you hate and those whom you love can be seen as mirrors, guiding you to discover parts of yourself that you dislike and to accept your greatest person alities you are proud of.

B. he was too angry to go on with his lunch any more
C. he was afraid he might be thought badly of by others

34. What’s the meaning of the underlined word “objectionable”
A. Unknown. B. Unacceptable. C. Unfair. D. Unreasonable.

Dear Xiaofang,
How time flies! It is two years since you moved to America for your study. These days, we have known that you will come back. How happy we are! During your staying in America, little companions(小伙伴们)kept complaining, “ There is no one to play with.” Huang Lei talked about the little woods where we often played together. As for me, it was an honor to have such a close friend like you. Each time I saw your empty house next door, I held back tears. How much I have missed the days when we played in the woods behind our houses, where we dug up some worms, chasing the birds. I still remember we slipped down along the stream , feeling the spray(水花) on our faces.
After reading your letter, Huang Lei and I came up with an idea. How about our families spending a week’s vacation together this summer What about the Spring Lake It is located between the downtown of Chunxiand and Wulin Town where we used to have fun. July will be the best month for us, so we must enjoy freedom and joy for a long time. Talk with Huang Lei about it as soon as possible.
I look forward to the time when we meet again.
Yours,
Xiao Mei
