believe用作及物动词,意为“相信;认为有可能”。 其后常跟名词,代词或从句作宾语。believe sb.意为“相信某人(所说的话是真的)”;believe in sb. 意为“信任某人”。

You can't believe anything she says.
很难相信他只有10岁。
It's hard to believe that he is only 10.
我相信他所说的话,但我不能信任他。
I believe what he said, but I can't believe in him.

(1)wake up在此处用作不及物动词短语,意为“醒来;睡醒”。
如:露西每天早上6点钟醒来。
Lucy wakes up at six o 'clock every morning.
他妈妈经常早上5点钟把他叫醒。
His mother often wakes him up at 5:00 in the morning.
(2)wake up还可作及物动词短语,此时为“动词+副词”型短语,后接名词作宾语时,名词放在up前或后均可;后接代词作宾语时,代词只能放在wake与up之间。
如:别吵醒你妹妹,Ben。
Don’t wake up your sister, Ben.=Don’t wake your sister up, Ben.

disagree 为不及物动词,意为“不同意,持不同意见;有分歧”,其反义词为agree。 disagree with sb. 意为“不赞同某人”。
agree 意为“一致认为;同意”,后可以跟从句,其反义词为disagree。
agree+dis=disagree,加前缀dis- 互为反义词的还有:
able(能,会)— disable(使丧失能力) like(喜欢)— dislike(不喜欢)
appear(出现)—disappear(消失) believe(相信)—disbelieve(不相信)
如:比尔和凯特常常意见不同,但他们是好朋友。
Bill and Kate often disagree but they are good friends.
我不同意你的意见。
I disagree with you.
然而,他们一致认为这可能要花费数百年的时间。
However, they agree(that) it may take hundreds of years.
【拓展】agree/disagree的用法
⑴ agree to do sth. 意为“同意做某事”。
如:他同意多给我一些时间。
He agreed to give me more time.
⑵ agree with+sb. 表示同意某人的意见、想法、分析、解释等,对象是人或人的观点,意为“同意;赞成”。
如:我同意你的意见/想法。
I agree with you/your idea.
⑶ agree to 后接 plan,idea,suggestion 等,表示同意某计划、观点或建议等。
如:请同意这个计划。
Please agree to this plan.
⑷ agree on表示“就……取得一致意见”。
如:他们在这个问题上意见一致。
They all agree on the matter.

【易混辨析】hundred与hundreds of
hundred 表示具体数量,意为“百”。其前有a、several及具体数字时,hundred后不加-s,也不和of连用。
hundreds of 表示笼统的数量,意为“许多;大量”。不可与具体数字连用。
模糊数字“两有”(有-s有of ), 具体数字“两无”(无-s无of )。 He has hundreds of books.
The room can hold two hundred people. 。
如:这个房间能容纳200人
他有许多书。
8. This was not possible 20 years ago, but computers and rockets also seemed impossible 100 years ago. (教材P53 2b)
possible形容词,意为“可能存在或发生的;可能的”,其反义词为impossible,意为“不可能存在或发生的;不可能的”。在句中可作表语或定语。
如:只要我们势力学习,一切皆有可能。
Everything is possible as long as we work hard.
别叫我做不可能的事情。
Don't ask me to do impossible things.
【拓展】as……as possible“尽可能……”,两个as中间用形容词或副词原级。
