宋绍熙年间，赵停最宠爱的黄贵妃病了。她面黄肌瘦，不思饮食。御医用了许多贵重药品，皆不见什么效果。皇帝见爱妃日见憔悴，也整日愁眉不展。最后无奈只好张榜求医。一位江湖郎中揭榜进宫，为黄贵妃诊脉后说：“只要用冰糖与红果（即山楂）煎熬，每顿饭前吃五至十枚，不出半月病准见好。” 贵妃按此办法服后，果然如期病愈了。
后来这种做法传到民间，老百姓又把它串起来卖，就成了冰糖葫芦。
快快长大：糖葫芦的来历
1. at “表示在......处” ，一般指较小的比较具体的地点。如: He isn’t at school.
2. in表示“在......内部；在......里面”的意思。如： What is in the bag
3. on表示“在某物的上面” ，但两者互相接触。
如： My books are on that desk.
4. under表示“在某物垂直的正下方”，两者之间不接触。如： My cat is under my bed.
5. behind表示“在某物体的后面” 。 如： The trash bin is behind the door.
6. in front of 表示“在......的前面”, 正好与behind相反。
如: There are many tall trees in front of our classroom.
7. near/next to 表示“在……的附近” ，意为"接近、靠近"。
如： The school is near/next to the shop.
