Lesson 18 We All Look Different!
Teaching Material Analysis:
This is the last lesson of Unit 3.The first part is the evaluation of the
characters’ appearance characteristics.The second part is the description
of the characters’appearance. It mainly practices the usage of have and
has.The students should master the use of verbs in the third person
singular in this lesson.
Learn Affection Analysis:
The students have learned English for four years.They have a certain
English foundation,but they dare not speak in class..We should encourage
them to speak bold.This lesson isn’t difficult.Whether in the cultivation of
ability,or the emotional aspects,its positionand function are very
important.but the students should do more practice and pay attention to
the usage of the word has.

Teaching Procedure:
CLASS OPENING
Greeting.
Step 1: Revision
1.Homework check..
2.Review how to go to see a doctor.Ask some pairs to act out the
dialogues in Lesson 17.
Part 1:What does he/she look like
Step 2: Present
Show the students one of Fan Bingbing’s pictures on the screen.Ask:How
does she look They can answer it by themselves.Or the teacher helps
them in English:Yes,she is beautiful.She has two big eyes.The teacher
says we can also ask questions like this:
What does she look like?
The teacher expain it.Then show one of Deng Chao’s pictures.Ask:How
does he look They can answer it in Chinese.Now let’s learn some new
words:cute,blond,funny,almost,glass.Repeat them some times.Ask the
students to guess the meaning of good-looking.
Step 3:Listen and Read
Ask the students to close their books and listen to the audiotape for
Lesson 18:Part 1 silently.Play the audiotape again.The students read
along with the audiotape.
Step 4:Practic
Look at the pictures in Part 1.Ask and answer in pairs:
What does she/he look like She/He is/looks…
Part 2:We all look different。
Step 5:Present
At first,the teacher for self introduction.I am from China.I’m thirty years
old.I have two big eyes.I have long black hair.Then ask a boy and a girl to
stand in front of the class.Point to their hair to show long hair and
short hair.Then show some Western people’s pictures and point to
their heads and eyes.The teacher asks:What colour is his/her hair What
colour are his /her eyes?Help the students to answer.Pay attention to the
usage of have and has.
Now let’s learn some new words.Show some pictures of the new words
on the screen:twelve,blond,almost,funny,glass,twelve,thirteen,different.
Step 6:Listen and Do
Ask the students to close their books. Play the audiotape for Lesson 18:
Part2. Ask the students to open their books.Play the audiotape again.
Come to Let’s Do It!No.1.The students listen and fill in the blanks.
Check the answers and listen again.This time the students read aloud with
the audiotape.
Step 7:Practice
Ask the students to introduce Jenny,Danny and Li Ming,including their
hair and eyes.Then talk about their partners each other.Encourage some
volunteers to come to the front..The others describe them.When they
make mistakes,the teacher must correct them immediately.
Come to Let’s Do It!No.4.Work with a partner on it.
Step 8:Summary
