Tom lived in a city with his father and his grandparents used to live far away in another city. His father would take him to his grandparents' house during summer holidays. Finally, he made up his mind and said to his father, "Now, I am a big boy, so I can go to grandparents' house alone. Day came when Tom was to leave for his grandparents' house alone. His father came with him to see him off. Excitedly, Tom went aboard the train and was comfortably settled at his seat in the train. While waiting, his father went to the window and kept talking to him. Announcement was made for train to depart. Then, his father handed him an envelope and said "Son, if you feel afraid or scared on the way, open this and read it. It will help you to calm down. Whatever happens, I will always be there for you. ”
Tom put that envelope in his pocket carefully and told his father, “I remember everything you told me. Don't worry. " His father nodded his head saying, “I must leave now because I have work to do. I can't stay here any longer for your departure. ”Tom waved goodbye to his father, expecting the coming journey.

Along the west coast of South America once stood the ancient Inca civilization. The capital Cuzco, was famed for its golden riches. The surrounding land included mountains, jungles, and deserts. Farmers tended crops and herds of llamas and alpacas for wool. It had three main geographical areas: a narrow coastal belt; the Andes Mountains running parallel to the coast; and high, flat plains in the southeast. In the high plains was Lake Titicaca, also known as the Lake at the Edge of the World.
One day word came that the prince was dying. The only cure was water from the lake at the edge of the world. Here, the sky touched the water and gave it healing magic. The king promised golden treasure for this healing water to cure his son.
The news reached a poor farmer and his two sons and young daughter Ampata. “We will find this lake and its magic water,” said the two sons. But after many days of difficult travel through jungles and over mountains, the two brothers were nowhere near the edge of the world. “Let's get water from the next lake we see, and say it's magic,” they agreed, and brought it to the king's palace. But the prince was not cured. The king angrily ordered the brothers imprisoned for their falsehood.
To save her brothers, Ampata decided to go herself, taking some roasted corn to eat. She walked all day, then stopped to rest. She noticed three scarlet macaws (麦鸟) in the trees above her.
“Please share some of my com!” she said.
“Thank you! Very generous! Where are you traveling ” asked the macaws. Ampata explained her mission.
“A long, dangerous journey! You need our help,” said the birds. Each one gave her a red feather,which she tied together. “Make a wish, and wave your feather fan,” they told her.
Ampata wished to be at the lake at the edge of the world. She waved the feathers, and there she was! The water shimmered with magic.
