*Introduce yourself and ask for names
Make sure you properly introduce yourself. Ask for their name in a polite way. ____19____. This will increase the chances of their remembering your name in the future. Always remember to stand up when greeting someone and be sure to introduce them to anyone you’re with.

第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
How To Cultivate Your Confidence
Self-confidence, the combination of self-efficacy and self-esteem, is an essential part of humanity. A person with self-confidence generally is willing to take risks to achieve his personal goals. Someone who lacks self-confidence, however, is less likely to feel that he can achieve his goals. ___16___
Identify your negative thoughts,
Your negative thoughts might sound like this: “I can’t do that,” “I will surely fail”. This inner voice is pessimistic and unhelpful and will hold you back from achieving high self-esteem and greater self-confidence.
Turn your negative thoughts to positive thoughts.
___17___This may take the form of positive affirmations, such as “I am going to try it,” “I can be successful if I work at it,” or “people will listen to me.” Start with just a few positive thoughts a day.
Refuse to allow negative thoughts to occur more often than positive thoughts.
Eventually, your positive thoughts should be given more “brain space” than your negative thoughts. ___18___
___19___Avoid spending time around things that can make you feel bad about yourself again. These might be reminders from the past clothing that no longer fits, or places that don’t fit with your new goals of gaining confidence. Though you may not be able to get rid of every negative source in your life, you can certainly think about how to cut your losses. ___20___
A. Get away from your past.
B. Rid reminders of your negativity.
C. This will go a long way in building up your self-confidence.
D. This means that you can have an abundance of self-confidence.
E. The more your positive thoughts get, the less your negative thoughts get.
F. As you pay attention to your negative thoughts, turn them around to positive thoughts.
G. The good news is that self-confidence is something that you can build on your own.

第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容, 从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
After entering high school, you must wonder how to study well. Here are some good skills for you.
Go to class. If you want to do well at school, going to class is the first step in studying well. If you miss classes, you will miss what the teacher thinks is important. As a result, you'll miss what is the most likely to end up on the test. ___36___ .
Take good notes. Try not to write down everything. ___37___. Write down unfamiliar terms. After class, review your notes as soon as possible. You can fill in details that you missed and review the material while it is still fresh on your mind.
___38___. If you are struggling in class, talk to your teacher. He or she may be able to give you more help before or after class. Most teachers have little sympathy for students who just become worried about failing during the last few weeks of the grading period.
Take part in class discussions. ___39___. Asking questions and having eye contact with your teachers and classmates can increase your participation and your focus during the class discussion. If the material is difficult, you'd better read it before class. This helps you make your point clear in class.
Form study group. Get students together who want to do well in class. Make sure that everyone is familiar with the material because you do not want to spend time re-teaching material to people who do not understand it. ___40___. Sometimes group sessions(上课时间)can become chatting sessions.
A. But be careful!
B. Don't be late for your class.
C. Talk to your teacher if you need help.
D. You should write down all the new terms.
E. So if you want to study well, go to every class.
F. All you need is to put down the main points in your own words.
G. In order to learn more in class, it is helpful to take part in class discussions.
