Best Films to Watch in 2022
Jurassic World: Dominion
It is the final film in the second trilogy (三部曲) of dinosaur-movies. It’s the first one that really deserves to be called “Jurassic World” rather than “Jurassic Park”. Yes, prehistoric dinosaurs appear in the wild this time, rather than being stuck in a theme park. What’s even more exciting is that the (human) stars from the first Jurassic film have reunited.
Release date: 10 June, internationally
Director: Colin Trevorrow
Official Competition
Cruz and Banderas have been two of Spanish cinema's most famous superstars for decades, and yet have rarely acted on screen together. Now, once again, that wrong has been corrected by Official Competition,a good movie-business satire (讽刺作品). Cruz plays a director who is adapting a Nobel Prize–winning novel. Banderas is a Hollywood action hero who is hired to star in it.
Release date: 1 June in France, 9 June in Singapore, 17 June in the US and 30 June in Germany
Director: Mariano Cohn & Gastón Duprat
Brian and Charles
Not a typical science-fiction movie, Brian and Charles is a low-cost British comedy starring and co-written by David Earl, a regular in situation comedies. “Brian and Charles is this year’s sweetest film,” says Cory. “It’s like an Edgar Wright’s Mighty Boosh project thrown into a cotton-candy machine, but also one of the most surprising films about being a parent, even when your son is a 7 feet-tall robot who loves cabbages.”
Release date: 17 June in the US and Canada

Lightyear

A Georgia mom is winning praise for the way she’s teaching her children, aged 13,10 and 6, about money.
Shaketha MeGregor, a single mother in Dublin, Georgia, knew she needed a solution after frequent requests from her three kids for things like new toys and money to do things with their friends.
She came up with the unique idea to host a “job fair(就业展览会)”for her three children, Jahkeem, in seventh grade, Takeia, in fifth grade, and Serinity, in first grade. The three positions at the job fair were the kitchen manager, lead housekeeper and laundry supervisor(洗衣房主管).Children had to earn their pocket money by doing a job.
Jahkeem, Takeia and Serinity each picked the job they wanted to apply for, filled out the application and had interviews with their employer-their mom.
“My oldest and my youngest both applied for the lead housekeeper,” McGregor said.“ As to my 6-year-old daughter Serinity, I was more impressed with her application and her interview than my 13-year-old son Jahkeem.”
”I want them to be familiar with the process when they are older,“ she said. ”Whether they’re applying to a school or for a new job. they can look back and say, “I did this with Mom years ago.” As a parent you want to protect your children as much as possible, but you know that eventually they’ll have to experience it on their own and a child’s greatest lesson in life is going through the process.
MeGregor’s post on Facebook where she shared her job fair idea now has more than 200,000 likes. She said she hoped it inspired other parents to think outside of the box and let their kids’ voices be heard.“ What I’m realizing is that kids just want to be part of something. The first-hand experience is the best way to educate children,” McGregor said.

Buck’s first day on the beach was a nightmare. Every hour was filled with shock or surprise. He had been suddenly removed from civilization and thrown into the heart of a primitive world. Here there was neither peace nor rest, nor a moment’s safety. It was essential to be constantly alert, for these dogs and men were not town dogs and men. They were savages, all of them, who knew no law but the law of Club and Tooth.
Buck had never seen dogs fight like these, and his first experience taught him an unforgettable lesson. He was fortunate that it was Curly who was the victim, not himself. Curly, in her friendly way, tried to make friends with a husky dog. The dog was the size of a full-grown wolf, but not half as large as Curly was. There was no warning: only a fast jump, a metallic cut of teeth, and a jump back. Curly’s face was ripped open from eye to mouth.
It was wolf fighting, to strike and jump away, but there was more to it than this. Thirty or forty huskies ran to watch. They surrounded the fighters in a silent, watching circle, all licking their lips. Curly rushed at the husky, who struck again and jumped away. He met her next rush with his chest in a strange way that knocked her over. She never got up again. This was what the watching huskies had waited for. They closed in on her, snarling and yelping. Curly was buried, screaming in pain, under the dogs’ bodies.

Generally speaking, convenience and safety affect how we choose to pay for things. Environmental concerns do, too.
Each time you pull out a credit, use a phone’s wallet app or hand over cash, you take part in a system. Some parts of that system make things, like coins, bills or cards. Other parts move money between buyers, sellers, banks and others. Used cash, cards and equipment will be eventually disposed of (处理), as well. Each part of this system uses materials and energy. And all parts produce waste.
Now researchers are looking more closely at how “green” these payment systems are. They’re finding buyers can help cut some of the environmental costs, no matter how they pay.
To understand the full “cost” to society of money or any other system, researchers can perform what’s called a life-cycle assessment. It looks at all the environmental impacts of a product or process. It starts with mining, growing or making the raw materials. It includes what happens while something is in use. And it considers the final disposal or reuse of things.
Even though raw materials are the first step, in fact there are raw materials added in at every single step along the journey. For money, raw materials go into each step of something that is “made”. Fuels are the raw materials for energy to make products and transport them. More energy goes into using products. Recycling or disposal also requires energy, plus water, soil or other materials.
People don’t realize most of those steps, so they can’t judge if one form of payment is dirtier or more costly. And that’s a problem, researchers say. It’s also what has got some of them to show more about the costs of how we pay for our lifestyles.
A life-cycle assessment doesn’t tell you what to do. However, it gives you an informed basis for making a decision.
32.What is Paragraph 2 mainly about
A.The ways of paying. B.The process of payment.
C.The waste produced by payment. D.The introduction of payment systems.
33.What does the life-cycle assessment of payment systems focus on
A.The real value of money. B.The history of the currency.
C.The effect on the environment. D.The importance of raw material.
34.What does the underlined word “them” in Paragraph 5 refer to
A.Steps. B.Products. C.Materials. D.Fuels.
35.What can be the best title for the text
A.The Payment Patterns are Changing
B.How We Choose to Pay Affects the Environment
C.New Payment Patterns Have Come into Being
D.How We Make Payment Systems “Green”

On my seventh birthday, I got a gift from my father, which was a book titled Guide to Reptiles and Amphibians. It was my favorite. I kept it under my pillow and read every page over and over every night enjoying the pictures of colorful animals. Some of the snakes were the most beautiful creatures I had ever seen.
Little did I know that my book would end up saving a life.
Years ago, my family moved into a new house near the woods. My father built a sandbox in our yard. The cat sometimes used the sandbox for a litter box, so my father had to put a plastic cover over it .When I wanted to build sand castles, I had to pull the cover off.
One day before dinner, I ran to the sandbox to build a miniature city. I pulled off the plastic cover, and there in the sandbox was a snake. It was lying very sill, all coiled up, and it was beautiful. The snake had rings of color around it. I had seen a picture just like it in my guidebook, and I remembered that it was one of the prettiest snakes in it. It said in the book that the poisonous coral snake looked very much like the harmless king snake, the only difference was in the order of the colors. 1 ran inside to get the guidebook.
“Mom! Mom! There’s a snake in the sandbox!” I yelled. “I have to find out what kind it is!”
Mom came running. “Don’t touch it, Chris! It might be poisonous!”
Dad was at work, so my mother went to get our neighbor, Mr. Cook.
“Mr. Cook!” my mother yelled across the fence, “We have a snake in the sandbox, and it might be poisonous!”
Mr. Cook was retired and lived with his wife in the house on the other side of our back fence. He came running toward the gale with a shovel and tried to kill the snake.

Strive to Live out Our Dream

However, easily distracted by things around myself, I find it hard to stay focused on study sometimes. And my confidence gets defeated quite often because of my poor grades in math.
To achieve my dream, I’ve worked out a study plan. From now on, besides listening carefully in class, I will turn to my teachers and fellow students to make up for what I’ve missed in class and do more exercises to improve my scores of all subjects, especially math.
