（三）定语从句中的介词问题
练习 3：
１．用适当的“介词＋关系代词”填空：
a.Where is the boy _____________ you were playing basketball just now?
b.Mother told me that Austria was the nicest country ___________ she’d ever been.定语从句c.The village has a very big tree _______________ the villagers often have meeting.

以上哪几个空可换用其它关系词？哪些不可以？
注意：并非所有的“介词＋关系代词”都可换用关系副词。
以上练习中只有
b中可用 where替换；
g 中可用when 替换。
即：
“介词＋关系代词”结构只有单纯表示地点或时间并作状语时才能用where 或when 替换。如果表示方式(a,f)、具体的位置关系(c,e)、动作发出者(d)等则不可用一个词代替。定语从句２．介词在定语从句中的位置有时会影响关系词的使用：
e.g. ^ Do you still remember the river that/which/X we used to catch fish in?
→Do you still remember the river in which we used to catch fish?
^The girl who/whom/that /X I danced with has gone home.
→The girl with whom I danced has gone home.
从以上例子中可看出：当介词放在从句句首时，修饰人应用whom,　修饰物应用which。而当介词放在从句句中时，我们可能有更多选择。定语从句３．有一些介词为固定搭配的一部分，此时它们的位置应注意：
e.g. The boy (whom) my sister is looking after is getting better.
不能说成：The boy after whom my sister is looking is getting better.
e.g. These are common mistakes in your writing, which you should pay attention to.
也可说成：These are common mistakes in your writing, to which you should pay attention.定语从句（四）As 引导的定语从句：
１．As 单独引导定语从句：
e.g. ^ He was a foreigner, as we could know from his accent.
^ As was expected, he managed to get here on time.
２．As 与such　连用：
e.g. ^ The man will not accept such presents as you gave to me.
有时两词可以连在一起使用：
^ We wish to give you a chance such as nobody else ever had.定语从句３．As 与the same 连用：
e.g. ^ One of my classmates is wearing the same dress as I bought yesterday.
４．As 与which：
a.As 引导的从句可放在句首，而which 引导的从句只能放在句中：
e.g. As we all know, the moon goes around the earth.
The child told a lie, which made his mother angry.
b.As 意思是“正如，正像…”
e.g. ^ He didn’t turn up this morning, as was expected.定语从句（五）定语从句与同位语从句：
例：试比较下列两个从句：
a.The news that you told me was surprising.
b.The news that her husband finally came back home made her happy.

e.g. ^ She is my best friend Mary.定语从句２．同位语从句：
e.g. ^ He has realized the fact that she did not agree to his plan for the holiday.
３．定语从句与同位语从句的区别：
定语从句对先行词进行修饰、限制和补充；而同位语从句则具体说明前面的名词的内容。
a.The news (that) you told me was surprising.
