Our lives are filled with storytelling, from the stories we tell our friends over dinner, to the ones we tell during toasts, at job interviews or on dates.
Stories make us laugh and feel like it's going to be OK. 36 Improving our storytelling skills can lead to more meaningful connections. Here's a guide on how to tell a story, from an idea to delivery.
Select a meaningful story
Each of us has hundreds of stories we could tell. 37 You can always think back to moments in your life that really affected you in some way. When you think of a moment, ask yourself, "Why was that moment important to me "Then patterns of your story occur.
Develop your story
Once you find the story you want to tell, think of some details and make it big. Where were you in that moment How did it impact your life What were the results Then condense(浓缩)your story into one sentence that helps focus what it's really about. 38
Figure out the structure
39 This will draw people in. From there, ask yourself if you'll tell your story in time order, or if you'll start at the end and find your way back to the beginning, or if you want to tell it in a series of flashbacks(倒叙)instead of straight lines.
Before you deliver the story, practice, practice and practice again—but don't memorize it
It's natural to feel nervous before sharing a story aloud. Become very familiar with your story. Practice enough to be comfortable telling it from memory, but you don't memorize it word for word.
If you go blank on stage, just think, " 40 " If you realize you didn't set it up right, you can always say "Now, what I forgot to tell you about my mom is…" or "What you really need to know…”
A. What happened next
B. You'd better include emotions in a story.
C. How do we know which one to pursue
D. A good story doesn't have to be a long one.
E. A good and practical way is to start in the action of the story.
F. Stories also help us relate to each other and build community.
G. This will help you decide which details support your main point.

What are some of the life lessons I would teach every student, and professional, if I had the chance Here are four of the most important lessons I wish everyone could have the chance to learn:

____16____ But talking and communicating are two different munication takes focus and energy. It requires active and reflective listening. In other words, you need to actually care about others if you ever really want to communicate effectively.

Don’t take things at face value or believe everything you hear. Ask “why ” as often as a three-year-old. ____18____ Where is it coming from What’s the background or intention Take a sincere interest in learning.
____19____ .
For many people the world is small. It’s their family or the place of work they visit each day. There is a world of people out there to connect with, to learn from and to engage with. Keep in touch with people. ____20____

One of the best aspects of travel is discovery. Whether you’re immersing yourself in a brand new culture or wandering(闲逛) the streets of a foreign city, you’re finding new things to see and experience. Part of that discovery is in what you learn about yourself. 36
Here are some of those ways:
37
Travel means new foods, cultures and places to explore. Try speaking that new language or eat a new kind of food you never knew existed. When you are thrown outside of your normal circumstances (环境), you’ll discover more about who you are and what you’re like.
The chance to reinvent yourself
At home, people can see you a certain way and pigeonhole(主观划分某人为) you into a personality type that can be hard to escape. 38 You’re free to break away from how people normally see you and reinvent yourself.
Building confidence
You have just traveled across a country, tried a new language and bargained over prices in a market. They’re all things you didn’t know you could do before, but you dug up a new-found sense of adventure and somehow made it work. 39 And the more challenges you take on, the more sure of yourself you become.
Planning and organizing skills
What’s the best route to take so I see all the major attractions What’s the best way to get to the next city and back so I don’t miss my flight Now should I recognize my schedule 40 You have to organize you trip so that you have a place to stay and transportation to and from certain destinations.
With travel, comes challenges.
Travel is about making choices.
Forcing you out of your comfort zone.
Trips don’t always go according to plan.
Having time to reflect on your life.
Travel can give you a chance to explore other sides of your personality.
Like most experiences, travel can change you in ways you might never have expected.
