Jenny lived in a small village. When she was a child, what she liked to do most was watch the blue sky and enjoy birds flying freely in the sky. She always imagined that some day she could also fly in the sky like a bird.
When Jane was in the fourth grade, one day, her teacher asked them to write a report on what they wanted to be when they grew up. She poured her heart into her report and wrote that she dreamed to become an airline pilot in the future. She thought that she did a great job because she expressed her real idea successfully. However, to her surprise, her paper came back with an “F” on it. The teacher told her it was nothing but a “fairy tale”, which could never become true. Jenny felt completely disappointed and sad. In her heart, she didn't want to accept that a girl couldn't become a pilot. But as the years went by, Jenny was beaten down by the discouragement again and again from people around her. “Girls can't become airline pilots; never have, never will. You're crazy.” Finally, Jenny gave up her dream.
However, when Jenny studied in her senior year of high school, she met an English teacher called Marsha, who was a strict teacher with high standards but very kind. She often inspired her students to do something meaningful in the future. One day, Mrs. Marsha asked all the students to think about the question: “What will you do in the future ” At that time, Jenny hesitated for a while. She was worried that she would be laughed at again. But soon she felt a rush of the old enthusiasm, and with excitement she wrote down the very old dream of becoming a pilot right away.

Over the years, Linda has been annoyed at many strangers when they come knocking with the intention of selling things! But earlier this year, around Easter time, Linda had an experience that changed her mind towards these strangers.
Linda recently moved to a new neighborhood far from her hometown, so she had few friends or relatives here, housebound all week. What's worse, she had been suffering from a severe case of flu for several days. Early one morning, she sat in the courtyard by herself, doing nothing. Feeling a little lonely, she began to miss her family. It crossed her mind that the whole family circled the table, enjoying the delicious food cooked by her mother. The sweet smell of her mother—cooked chicken soup greeted her from time to time. She was buried in happiness when there was a loud knock on her front door. The knock pulled her back to reality from good memories. Very annoyed and disturbed, she walked slowly toward the door.
Looking out of the window, she saw two young ladies holding leaflets and a TV set model, and they were looking curiously inside. She knew of a large TV set establishment nearby and assumed a message was about to be gently delivered. This is the last thing I need today, she whispered to herself and hesitantly opened the door.
Coughing violently, she stuck her head out and informed them that she showed no interest in any TV. Furthermore, she added, she was feeling quite unwell, wishing not to be disturbed and abruptly shut the door hard. The ladies politely turned and left in silence! However, a few hours later, another knock happened. Linda glanced out the window and to her surprise, there at her door were the same two ladies, back again.

I handed the card from my school's help-wanted board to the man behind the counter of Mort's Deli (熟食店). Even before I opened my mouth, he was shaking his head.
It was September 1957, and my family had just arrived in California. My father only got work two or three days a week. Our poor savings were gone, and as the eldest boy of the family, I was the only one able to help.
''Let me work the rest of the week, and if you don’t like the way I do the job, don't pay me,'' I said. The tall man stared at me, and then nodded, ''I'm Mort Robin. What's your name ''
At Mort's, I worked very hard. Near the end of the day he called me up to him. ''How much did that card at school say this job paid '' he asked. ''One dollar an hour,'' I whispered. Actually I was willing to take less.
''That's not enough for someone who works as hard as you,'' Mort said. ''You start at 1.25.'' Over the next few weeks, I learned a lot about Mort. A few years older than my dad, he was from Chicago and had a daughter at my age. When things were slow, he often shared stories from his army days. Our store was closed on Sundays, so every Saturday evening Mort urged me to take home the leftover soup. It was a meal in itself, a treat for my struggling family.
One Saturday after work, I was about to step in my house when I saw a large bald man in my father's chair. He was shouting at my father. I quietly walked into the kitchen and listened through the door. The man wanted to take our car. I had been in Los Angeles just long enough to understand how essential a car was. Dad offered to make the three payments that were due, but the man demanded the entire sum - $325, or the car.
I slipped out of the door, thinking: Who might have $325 Who would even consider lending me so much money
Paragraph 1

Really angry this time, she opened the door. “Why are you two coming again ” Linda shouted at them angrily, trying to shut the door fast. With concerned looks on their faces, they explained to her that they purchased some medicine from a nearby drugstore and hoped that she could get a quick recovery. Witnessing the scene, she felt a surge of guilt with tears streaming down her cheeks. Linda took over the medicine and invited them in warmly. 【47题答案】
【答案】One possible version:
Paragraph 1
The only person I could think of was Mort. Without hesitation I headed for the store, knocked at the door and waited anxiously. After a while, the door opened and there stood Mort, confused. Before he could ask me anything, I poured out what my family was facing. ''So, could you possibly loan my father $325 '' I could feel my face hot. Beyond my expectation, he turned around, returned with $325 in an envelope and handed it to me directly, saying ''I'll take back half your wages until it's repaid.'' ''Thank you,'' I said in a trembling voice, trying to fight back my tears. Then I hurried back home.
Paragraph 2
I calmly handed the man the money. That night I was a hero to my family. But the real hero wag Mort Robin, who not only helped my family out, but also quietly raised my salary every month. By summer, I was earning $2.50 an hour, double the original wage. Finally, I paid off the debt. It was Mr. Robin who made the world a better place for me.
I could feel my face hot. /I said in a trembling voice, trying to fight back my tears.同时分词状语、介词短语等的添加使得人物的情绪更加饱满。如:Without hesitation./confused./Beyond my expectation,/trying to fight back my tears.
