Everyone feels upset at times. It’s OK and natural to feel angry, afraid, or sad. But those feelings don’t have to rule your mood. How can you get rid of these bad feelings if they happen to you Try these ideas to help you relax and cool down.
Bubble(气泡) breaths
Breathe in a lot of air through your nose. Then breathe it out slowly through your mouth as if you’re blowing a big bubble. Repeat the process, blowing as many “bubbles” as you need to.
The squeezer
Put your hands at your sides and make fists(拳头). Slowly count to 10 and keep breathing as you squeeze(挤压) your hands hard, feeling the squeeze in your arms. Then let the squeeze go. Let your hands hang down, relaxing at your sides, as you slowly count to 10 again. Repeat the process as needed.
Watch it go
Picture your upset feelings as a big cloud right in front of you. Count backward slowly, from 10 to 0. With each number, imagine the cloud moving farther away from you. When you get to 1, imagine that you can hardly see the cloud. At 0, watch it disappear.
Lots to like
List things that can cheer you up. What are you good at What do others like about you What actions make you feel proud Include them all! Read the list often—to yourself or out loud—and keep adding to it.
