A【原创】
In a rural field close to the Suffolk coast, a pig farmer has been trying to warn off the UK's largest bird of prey with a poster campaign. In red and black letters, the message on the billboard is clear: "Say No To Sea Eagles Here."
Now, it seems, his wish may have come true. The sea eagle, or white-tailed eagle, is a rare and protected bird with a wingspan of up to 2.5m. It was hunted to extinction in the British Isles, but over the last 30 years it has been re-introduced successfully in parts of Scotland.
For several years, Natural England, and the RSPB(皇家鸟类保护协会), have been planning to do the same in East Anglia, with Suffolk's wetland coast identified as the best location.
The sea eagle project was expected to last five years and to cost £600,000, but its whole future is now in doubt. Natural England has announced the withdrawal of its financial support.
Jimmy Butler, an open-air pig farmer, said, "This bird would have killed a lot of our pigs, jeopardized our income and our business in total. The big fear for pig farmers was not that sea eagles could have eaten their animals, but that they would have caused panic as they flew overhead, causing breeding adults animals to crush the young.
Natural England's chief scientist, Tom Tew, said the decision was purely financial. "We don’t give to opposition," he said. "We have listened to farmers and landowners and they have entirely reasonable concerns, but all of the research shows their concerns are either unreasonable, or could be overcome.
The RSPB said it was disappointed at losing its partner in the re-introduction project, but that it was still determined to bringing the sea eagle back to English skies. A spokesman said the project was postponed rather than cancelled, and that the charity would now be looking at alternative ways of funding a re-introduction scheme, in Suffolk or in a different part of England.
1. According to the passage, the sea eagle ______.
A. is unpopular with all the local people
B. is about 2.5m long from its head to its tail
C. was once in danger of disappearing in England
D. feeds on pigs on the farms
2. The sea eagle project ______.
A. was started 30 years ago.
B. was in charge of the RSPB in finance
C. was influenced by the farmers’ resistance
D. was planned to cost £600,000
3. Natural England is probably ______
A. a branch of the RSPB
B. an organization in England
C. the natural part of England
D. a government department serving the farmers
4. What can we know from the passage?
A. The RSPB’s determination to protect the sea eagle was great.
B. The common people influence many policies a lot in England.
C. The RSPB and Natural England will put off all their cooperation temporarily.
D. Pig farmers are delighted at the RSPB’s decision on withdrawal of its financial support
5. What might be the best title for the text?
A. Sea eagle plan hits riot in East Anglia
B. The sea eagle causes great damage to the local farmers.
C. The RSPB had great financial difficulty protecting the sea eagle.
D. The relationship between Natural England and the RSPB broke up.
根据第四段“The sea eagle project was expected to last five years and to cost £600,000...”
4. A。 根据最后一段“…but that it was still determined to bringing the sea eagle back to English skies.”及“… the project was postponed rather than cancelled, and that the charity would now be looking at alternative ways of funding a re-introduction scheme…”

The blue eyes that looked at him from outside the door were like the light through a magnifying glass (放大镜) when it is at its brightest and smallest, when paper and leaves begin to smoke.
“Hey ,” said the man in the door. “Remember me?”
“Yes,” the boy said, whispering. “Rick.”
He felt so surprised to see Rick. All of Rick seemed to be shown in the eyes, with a strong feeling that ought to have hurt him
“You knew me,” Rick said. “You hadn’t forgotten.”
“You’re ——just the same,” the boy said, and felt much thankful.
He seemed even to be wearing the same clothes, the same blue shirt and grey trousers. He was thin, but he was built to be lean; and he was still, or again, sunburnt (晒黑了). After everything, the slow white smile still showed the slight feeling of happiness.
“Let’s look at you,” Rick said, dropping into a chair. Then slowly he felt more at home, and he became once more just Rick, as if nothing had happened. There were lines about his eyes, and deeper lines on his cheeks (面颊), but he looked like——just Rick, lined by sunlight and smiling.

Dear Puzzled,

Thank you for your letter. You asked me about how to improve your listening and spoken English. Here are some tips for you.
Firstly, you should be active in English classes so that you’ll have more chances to practice your spoken English. Secondly, reading English texts aloud every day is of great help. Thirdly, you’d better listen to English tapes more. It is also a good idea to watch some English programmes. Personally, I like singing English songs and seeing English films. I even try to talk with native speakers if possible. I think all these can help our listening and speaking a lot.
Best Wishes!
Yours,
Li Hua
