How I Learned to Learn English
Last year, I did not like my English class. Every class was like a bad dream. The teacher spoke so quickly that I did not understand her most of the time. I was afraid to ask questions because of my poor pronunciation. I just hid behind my textbook and never said anything.

Then one day I watched an English movie called Toy Story. I
fell in love with this exciting and funny movie! So I began to watch
other English movies, too. Although I could not understand
everything the characters said, their body language and the
expressions on their faces helped me to get the meaning. I also realized I could get the meaning by listening for just the key words.

My pronunciation improved as well by listening to the conversations
in English movies. I discovered that listening to something interesting
is the secret to language learning. I also learned

it是find的形式宾语，真正的宾语是后面的动词不定式短语，difficult充
当宾语补足语。有类似用法的词还有think，make，feel，consider。
2. What is the secret to language learning
语言学习的秘诀是什么？
the secret to … “……的秘诀” 其中to 为介词, 表示所属，secret 在此
处用作可数名词，意为 “秘密；秘诀”。
e.g. Her age is a secret to us all. 她的年龄对我们大家来说是个秘密。
4. I was afraid to ask questions because of my poor pronunciation.
be afraid to do sth 怕而不敢做某事
be afraid of doing sth 害怕或担心做某事
3. so… that …
意为“如此……以至于……”，引导结果状语从句，so后用形容词
或副词原形。
so that引导目的状语从句时，意为“以便；为了”。从句中常使用
can\could\may\might\will\would\should等情态动词或助动词。

called Toy Story 为过去分词短语作后置定语，修饰名词movie。
fall in love with “爱上某人/某物”。
be in love with意为“与…相爱”，表状态。
6. as well
意为“也；和；又”。其用法与too相同，多用于肯定句末尾。
【辨析】also, too, as well, either 均含“也”之意。
also 比 too 正式一些，语气较重，只用于肯定句，一般紧靠动词。
too 语气较轻，多用于口语，在肯定句中使用，通常位于句末。
as well 一般不用否定句，通常放在句末，强调时可放在句中。
either 用于否定句，放在句末，之前加逗号。
7. discover
动词，意为“发觉；发现”，多指发现已经存在而不为人知的事物。
【辨析】find和invent
①find意为“找到；发现”，指寻找的结果，通常指偶然发现。
②invent意为“发明”，指发现以前没有的事物。
8. look up
look up意为“(在词典、参考书等中)查阅；查找”。是“动词＋副词”
短语，名词作宾语时，可放在短语中间或后面；代词作宾语时，代词
一定要放在短语之间。
