In some public places in India, kissing is not allowed. If you break the law(法律), you will be put into prison(监狱). If the couple is married, they won't be punished seriously. If the couple is unmarried, they will get into big trouble. Also, wearing shorts or skirts is not allowed in places of worship(礼拜). Dresses that show anything about the ankle(踝) is generally impolite in most places of worship.

I arrived in the UK last weekend to learn English. So far I have already had a few friends and had some traditional English food here. But after having three days of hamburgers, sandwiches and potatoes, I thought none could be more delicious than Chinese food, especially my favorite—huo guo. You can’t imagine how excited I was when I got to know that there was going to be a free meal of hotpot to welcome the new students. On the way to the canteen, I seemed to smell huo guo in the air.
To my surprise, when I went into the room, I didn’t see any sign of huo guo. Where was it
With many questions in my mind, I sat down to have the free meal. After talking with an English girl, I got to know that Chinese huo guo is completely different from hotpot. Chinese huo guo is written in two words—hot pot; and hotpot, one word, is a traditional English dish.
Hotpot is made from mutton and onion. On the top are pieces of potatoes. People put it in the oven all day in a heavy pot at a low heat. It takes very little effort to prepare. You can often see it at parties in the UK because it’s easy to prepare for a large number of people and is not expensive.
Hotpot doesn’t taste bad. However, I still miss huo guo, hot pot, two words!

Different countries have different customs. When you are in different countries, you should follow the customs there. In China, you are not supposed to start eating first if there are older people at the table.
Very often people who travel to the United States forget to tip. It is usual to tip waiters, taxi drivers and porters who help carry your bags at a train station, an airport or in a hotel. Waiters expect to get a fifteen percent tip on the cost of your meal. Taxi drivers expect about the same amount.
In England, you can see people standing in line almost everywhere, at the bus stop, in a bank, in the post office, in the doctor's waiting room and so on. So when you are in the UK, make sure to wait in a queue even if there are only two of you. It's a good idea to talk about the weather there. It's a favorite subject of conversations with the British.
In Spain, it's a good idea to have a light meal in the afternoon if someone invites you for dinner. People have dinner very late, and restaurants do not usually open until 9:00 p.m.
In Saudi Arabia, men kiss one another on the cheek(脸颊).Your host may welcome you with a kiss on both cheeks. It is polite for you to do the same.
In Japan, people usually give personal or business cards to each other when they meet for the first time. When a person gives you a card, don't put it into your pocket soon. The person expects you to read it before you put it away.

In the USA, it is normal for men to shake hands when they meet, but it is quite unusual for men to kiss when they greet each other. Greetings are casual—a handshake, a smile and a “hello” will do just fine.
The British often simply say “hello” when they meet friends. They usually shake hands only when they meet for the first time. Social kissing, often just a peck(轻吻) on the cheek, is common in an informal(非正式的) situation between men and women and also between women who know each other very well.
In Japan, the common greeting for both men and women is to bow when they greet someone, instead of giving a handshake or a hug.
Hungarians like to greet in a friendly way—kiss each other on both cheeks. The most common way is to kiss from your right to your left. When men meet for the first time, a handshake is the norm.
In Albania, men shake hands when greeting one another. A kiss on the cheek may also be common if there is a close relationship. Women may shake hands or kiss each other on both cheeks.
In Armenia, by tradition, a woman needs to wait for a man to offer his hand for a handshake. Between good friends and family members, a kiss on the cheek and a hug are also common.

When was the last time you gave or received a hug Do your parents hug you before you go to school In Western countries, it is quite common to greet close friends or relatives with a hug.
You might hug your teammates after winning a basketball game. If one of your friends is having a bad day, you can hug them to cheer them up. Friends who haven’t seen each other for a long time will usually hug each other when meeting.
Of course, people in different countries have different opinions when it comes to hugging. After coming to China, I’ve noticed that people are generally more reluctant(不情愿的) to hug than they are in my home country, the US.
My Chinese friends told me that hugging is considered to be very intimate(亲密的) in their culture. It usually only happens between people who are really close to each other, like couples. Chinese people don’t usually hug in public, either.
But people’s attitudes(态度) towards hugging can also change. I remember watching a video story about a “hugging party” that was held in Shanghai. A local artist held the party, inviting strangers and asking them to hug each other.
The Chinese participants(参与者) clearly looked uncomfortable. However, after the party, several of them changed their minds. They decided that hugging doesn t have to be awkward(尴尬的) and can actually be quite nice. So next time you see your mom or dad, give them a hug—see how it makes you feel.

Vanuatu is an island nation in the South Pacific. It is one of the smallest countries in the world. But for those who are interested in adventure and sports, there is a lot to do. Vanuatu’s islands offer visitors two of the most exciting and dangerous activities in the world: volcano(火山) surfing and land diving.
Volcano Surfing
On Tanna Island, Mount Yasur rises 300 meters into the sky. Yasur is an active volcano, and it erupts(爆发) almost every day, sometimes several times a day. For centuries, people have climbed this mountain to visit the top. Recently, people have also started climbing Yasur to surf the volcano. In some ways, volcano surfing is like surfing in the sea, but in other ways it’s very different. Volcano surfers try to escape from the volcano—without getting hit by flying rocks! It’s fast, fun and dangerous—the perfect extreme sport(极限运动).
Land Diving
Most people are familiar with bungee jumping, but do you know bungee jumping started on Pentecost Island in Vanuatu and is almost fifteen centuries old The activity, first called land diving, is part of a religious ceremony(宗教仪式). In Russia if you give flowers as presents, you have to give an odd number of them (one, three, five, etc.) because even numbers of flowers are for funerals.
In Germany if you are invited to dinner, flowers are good presents to take to your dinner hostess, but don't take her red roses because it means you are in love with her. If you're traveling to the United States, you need to understand the common way to say hello-a handshake. Friends shake hands. Women, men and even children can shake hands.
Shaking hands also seems simple, but there are some important things to remember. When you shake hands, you must look into the other person's eyes the whole time you're shaking hands.
Shake hands strongly. If you give a weak handshake, the other person might think that you're not kind. He / She might also feel that you don't like him / her or you don't want to touch him / her. Shake hands with men and women the same way. If you shake hands with a very old person or a small child,be careful not to hurt them.
Some people don't know how long to keep shaking. The most common handshake should have three shakes and then you should let go. Don't worry if Americans shake hands a little longer.
Your handshake is like your smile. It's special to you. You need to find a comfortable strong handshake that shows what you are like. Because the handshake allows people to touch, the hand should be warm, clean and dry.
Warm:Put your hands into your pockets before you shake hands. This will warm them.
Clean:If you know you're going to meet someone, wash your hands so they'll be clean.
Dry:Everyone gets nervous and your hands may get wet. It isn't a good feeling for the other person. Again, put your hands into your pockets. This will dry them.
