Language Points
It must belong to Carla. 它一定是卡拉的。
belong to 意为“属于,是……的”,没有被动语态,也不能用于进行时态。其中to是介词。
The guitar might belong to Alice. 这把吉他也许是艾丽斯的。
这句话还可以用以下方式表达: The guitar might be Alice’s.
The book belongs to me. = The book is mine.
belong to 表示某物“属于”某人,后常跟名词或代词宾格,不能跟名词性物主代词或名词所有格
be 表示某物“是”某人的,后接名词性物主代词或名词所有格

Whose book is this 这是谁的书?
whose特殊疑问词,意为“谁的”,可以作定语、也可作表语,用以提问物品的所属关系。其答语常用名词所有格、名词性物主代词或短语belong to。
—Whose bananas are these 这些是谁的香蕉?
—They are Jim’s bananas. 它们是吉姆的。
—Whose is that bedroom 那是谁的卧室?
—It is mine. 我的。

attend此处用作及物动词,意为“出席;参加”,其宾语常为concert,meeting等。
Children must attend school. 儿童必须上学。

attend 指“到场”或“出席”会议、宴会、典礼、仪式等
join 参加某团体或组织成为其中一员或参加活动,是非正式用语
join in 表示“加入;参加(某种活动)”,in之后接名词或v.-ing形式;表示“参加某人的某种活动”时,可用join sb. in (doing) sth.
take part in 指参加一项工作, 在其中分担一部分, 也指参加活动并积极工作

valuable形容词,意为“贵重的;很有用的;宝贵的”,在句中可用作定语,也可用作表语。用作表语时,可与介词to连用,常用短语be valuable to sb.“对某人来说很有价值”。
This painting is very valuable. 这幅绘画非常名贵。
He gave us valuable advice on the problems of education.
他在教育问题上给我们提了宝贵的建议。
This experience is valuable to me. 这一经历对我很有用。

I left early, before the rest of my friends. 我早在我其余的朋友之前离开了。
the rest of …意为“剩下的/其余的……”,其后接名词作主语时,谓语动词的单复数形式取决于of后面的名词的单复数。
The rest of the students are boys. 其余的学生是男生。
The rest of the money is stolen. 剩下的钱被偷了。

I think somebody must have picked it up. 我想一定有人捡到了它。
must have picked it up是“must+have+过去分词”的结构,表示对过去时间里可能发生的事情的肯定推测。
—Linda has gone to work, but her bicycle is still here.
琳达已经去上班了,但她的自行车还在这里。
—She must have gone by bus. 她一定是乘公共汽车去的。

① may/might/can/could have done sth. 推测过去时间里可能发生的事情。
He might/could have arrived there. 他可能早就到那里了。
② ought to/should have done sth. 本应该做某事,而事实上并没有做。否定句表示"不该做某事而做了"。ought to 在语气上比should 要强。
You ought to/should have been more careful in this experiment.
③ needn't have done sth. 本没必要做某事
You needn’t have dressed so warmly for the trip. The weather there was hot.
你本没必要为了旅行穿那么暖和,那里的天气很热。
④ would like to have done sth. 本打算做某事
I would like to have read the article, but I was very busy then.
我本打算读这篇文章,但我那时太忙了。
情态动词+have+过去分词
I’ll call them now to check if anybody has it. 现在我要给他们打电话核实一下是否有人拿了它。
anybody代词,意为“任何人”,常用于否定句和疑问句中,相当于anyone。有时在肯定句或if条件状语从句中想表达“任何人”的含义时也用anybody/anyone。
Has anybody come 有人来了吗?
