Last year, my friends and I wanted to spend our Christmas holidays somewhere warm, and we chose Uganda.
In the first few days, everything went well. We enjoyed the nature, wildlife and sunshine. However, our good luck came to an end. On our way to the next stop on our travel list, we had a car accident. My right arm was badly hurt. When we learned that there was a hospital in Masindi, just an hour’s drive away, we decided to go there.
We were taken good care of in the hospital. A few days later, we were ready to go to the next place. However, my wound needed daily dressing changes (换药), so we were asked to stay here for a few days.
Masindi was not on our travel list. There was nothing amazing about the sights or the food in this town. The best part here was probably the market, although there was nothing special to buy either.
I thought we were about to end our trip to Uganda in this boring town. However, the surprise came unexpectedly. Unlike big cities. I found that life moved slowly in the town. We always saw villagers walking slowly on the path. When they saw us, they smiled at us or even stopped to talk to us. They told us a lot about the customs here.
Everything here made me comfortable and relaxed. We all learned to slow down.
