四、阅读理解 (共15小题, 每小题2分, 计30分)
A
Since humans sent the first satellite (卫星) to space in the 1950s, scientists have been studying an important topic: how to grow food in space if humans live there one day. Here are some examples.
1982
Researchers from the Soviet Union grew Arabidopsis is thaliana (拟南芥) on the Salyut 7 space station. They were the first plants that produced seeds (种子) in space.
1995
The USA and Russia worked together to grow wheat in space. From August 12 to November 9, wheat plants grew in the greenhouse called Svet on Russia’s Mir spaces tation.
2014
American engineers developed Veggie, a greenhouse which could help plants grow on the International Space Station (ISS). In it, researchers grew a few lettuces (生菜) that were perfectly safe to eat.
2022
China successfully grew rice on its space station! The seeds arrived there on July 28. Now the plants are growing well in the Wentian lab. They are expected to finish the whole life cycle there.

B
Wall-E is an interesting and educational film. The story starts on the earth about 800 years in the future.
There are no humans on the planet. They all left in spaceships in the 22nd century when terrible pollution made it impossible to stay. They left behind lots of robots to clean the earth. However, the pollution was so bad that they couldn’t come back.
Now 700 years later, all the robots stop working but one called Wall-E. He spends most of his time picking up rubbish. Then one day, another robot named Eve arrives. Humans in a spaceship sent her to see if there is any sign of life on the earth. Wall-E falls in love with Eve. When a spaceship comes to pick up Eve, Wall-E decides to follow her into space.
Wali-E and Eve go to a large spaceship. There are many humans and robots. These humans are quite different. They spend their time in chairs, and become so fat that they cannot even stand without the help of the robots. With the help of Wall-E and Eve, the captain (船长) finally brings all the humans back to the earth successfully.
The film shows what might happen to our planet if we don’t take care of it.
54. Why did the humans leave the earth
A. Because there were too many people. B. Because there was terrible pollution.
C. Because there was not enough food. D. Because they wanted to take a trip in space.
55. What is Wall-E’s job
A. To clean the earth. B. To find humans. C. To find other robots. D. To find a green planet.
56. How are the humans different from us
A. They have special food. B. They are much smarter. C. They are much taller. D. They can’t stand up.
C
More than 60 years have passed since the first human space flight. Most people are willing to experience space travel. Will it be a reality It already is.
In April 2001, American businessman Dan Tito paid Space Adventures$20 million for going to the International Space Station (ISS). The journey lasted ten days and Tito spent eight days at the station. In the summer of 202i, private companies Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin sent their first tourists into space. In September 2021, SpaceX sent four tourists to stay on the Crew Dragon ship for three days. In December 2021, the Russian Soyuz MS 20delivered Japanese businessman Yusaka Maezawa and his assistant (助手) to the ISS. This marked an important milestone for space travel in the future.
Private companies continue developing space travel technology in order to reduce the cost and improve the quality. Scientists believe future space travel technology will take the place of long air flights. In 2020, SpaceX announced its Starship would be able to take up to 100 passengers on board and deliver them from one continent (洲) to another in less than an hour. A 15-hour flight from New York to Shanghai would take only 40minutes on Starship.
No doubt only few people can afford such trips today. It is not easy for everyone to pay $20 million for 8 days in space. But once space travel becomes popular, it will have a positive (积极的) influence on job creation, development of new energy, etc. This will finally make space travel affordable for citizens.
Rapid technology development can no longer be stopped. In another 5 to 10 years, spending a vacation on the Moon will become as common as ordering a taxi or a hotel room today.

A. What progress have private companies made B. What will space travel be like in the future
C. Will space travel be affordable in the future D. Why do people show interest in space travel

Now, more and more astronauts are sent into space. When astronauts stay in space, one of their important tasks is to get out of the spaceship or the space station and take spacewalks.
Alexei Leonov became the first person to go on a spacewalk on March 18th, 1965. Zhai Zhigang is the first Chinese space walker, and he took a spacewalk on September 27th, 2008. On November 7th, 2021, he went on a spacewalk again.
Why do astronauts go on spacewalks That’s because they need to work outside the spaceship or the space station. For example, they carryout science experiments (实验) and sometimes they have to repair things. When there is something wrong with the outside of the spaceship or the space station, astronauts need to go on spacewalks to repair it. Because of the special environment in space, astronauts may face many challenges during the spacewalk, such as weightlessness, low temperature and strong radiation (辐射). In order not to float away, they also need a special rope to protect themselves.
There are some ways for astronauts to train for spacewalks. One way is to go for a swim. Floating in space is a lot like floating in water. It’s more difficult than moving the body on land. Another way is to use virtual reality (VR). They wear a helmet with a video screen inside. The screen can show a video of what they will see during the spacewalk. At the same time, they wear special gloves so that they can feel like they are taking a spacewalk.
71. Who is the first Chinese astronaut to take a spacewalk
72. How do astronauts prevent themselves from floating away during the spacewalk
73. is floating in space similar to floating in water

Life on Mars
With the development of science and technology, I think people will live on Mars in the future.
People will wear spacesuits on Mars, which can protect them from cold or hot weather. These kinds of clothes will be designed in different colours and styles, and people can change them easily. Plants will be grown to produce food, water, and oxygen on Mars. People will live in beautiful and comfortable houses. Each family will have a home robot to help with housework. Students will no longer go to school. Instead, they can attend classes online at home. In the future, people can get around by driving their flying pared with normal cars and buses, this means of transport will produce less pollution or noise.
